Mobil1 Tranny fluid?
 

Talking to a very well known RX-8 racing team they mentioned they run Mobil1 in their transmission. The only option I see is the 75W-90 but it's got friction modifiers for LSDs. Seems like a no-no for synchros - or am I wrong? I've used Redline and am not totally wowed. I've scoured other forums but a lot of manufacturers don't allow GL-5 (unlike the 8) in their trannies so there's not a lot of buzz.

On a side note anyone use GM Synchromesh?

MT-90. I know you've recommended the Shockproof (don't remember which weight) and Roar Racing uses MTL. Not to be a wannabe but I figure if the #1 RX-8 racing team uses Mobil1 it deserves a looksee. I emailed Mobil and they will not advise the 75W-90's use in transmissions. WTH???

Lucky you. Not sold in the States from my findings (I've heard of 5 gallon buckets here though). I'll keep searching unless someone can chime in.

EDIT: Mobil says it was discontinued (in the States maybe) and they recommend Mobil Delvac Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90 which is also nowhere to be found - including their site.

Looking at all of those qualifications at the bottom of the above link, that must be some good stuff.

Well funk it, I just ordered some Motul Motylgear 75W-90. Will report back in a separate thread. See red bold below for reason I chose it over Motul Gear 300...
