Mitsubishi part in our RX8?
I was topping off my oil when I discovered this mitsubishi part in my 05 rx8 gt:
http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/3968/mitsupart.jpg Its on the passenger side. Anybody knows what this specific part does? |
not just what you found<sensor>. our starter is from mitsubishi also:icon_no2:
|
So are the air valves for the intake manifold :D
|
mitsubishi doesn't just make cars. they make everything from pencils to computers to air conditioners. they're one of those light to heavy industry we-make-everthing companies. so this is not terribly weird
|
I know they make a bunch of parts -- we have like a 200kva mitsubishi UPS where I work (a datacenter) -- I was just wondering what this one is doing as I have no idea hehe
|
according to a google on the part number its a EGR BOOST SENSOR - it monitors EGR operation and intake manifold pressure.
|
Sweet! RX-8 and the EVOs are related.
What used to be really ironic is the turbos in the WRX are Mitsu units. And you know the Subaru/Mitsu rivalry for those cars.... |
Its not new for mazda.
My 1988 Mazda 323 4door had Mitsubishi parts throughout the car. Namely the alternator which failed constantly... and cost an arm and a leg. |
Awesome, so our car is a Mazda/Ford/Mitsubishi right?

Hey, the Mustang used our Rx-8 dampers! We were the first one to use them! :lol2: |
does anybody know what the bottom of the EGR BOOST SENSOR should have a line out to?
|
nothing
|
so whats the point of it being there?
|
It's nothing EGR whatever ... u probably found the Barometric Pressure Sensor ... it measures the atmospheric air pressure to calculate a lot of engine related things.

This news just in. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is a major OEM Parts manufacture for all asian makes except possibly honda (not sure, don't care, try not to wrench on those vehicles, such a pain in the ass to work on. last one I worked on I had to take damn driver's headlight off to replace belts).
GTRs use DSM oem blow off valves. Miatas use Mitsubishi Coil Packs and Crank sensors. KA24 engines (240sx, Nissan Pickups) use mitsubishi distributors. Actually toyotas may be to reliable to use Mitsu parts... I don't know any offhand examples for toyota. And then Subaru and Mitsubishi are fierce rivals. So not sure on that, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used Mitsubishi Heavy Industries turbos or blow off valves on the turbo models. |
