Milky Oil & 5W-20 Oil

First off... new to the forum! Got my 8 back about 2 weeks ago. Put 500 miles on it, did my first oil change. I now have 1100. I was looking at my oil level the other day and noticed the white froth on the dipstick... I did my first oil change with the factory 5W-20... I was wondering if anyone who is using 5W-30 has seen the white froth on their dipstick?

It's normal with 5w20.

Got mine about two weeks ago. Gave her the first oil change at 1100 miles. I'm at about 1400 now (love driving!) Everything looks normal. No milky stuff. Used 5W-20 Havoline. I drive fairly sanely but have redlined it a couple of times already. Hard not to leave your foot on the floor!!!

Just got mine back from the dealer, milky frothy oil was on my list. They said they had seen this often on 8s, but had called Mazda anyway, Mazda says nothing to worry about, that the dip stick tube just happens to be where any condensation collects.

Hey, it's their warranty on the car, I'll let them worry about it! ;)

I'll accept it for now... I'm sure if it is really something serious it will show up way before the warranty on the engine is up! I know different oils use different additives that include anti-foaming agents and was wondering if anyone changed brands and/or oil weight and noticed any change. I might try 5W-30 in another brand next change and see what happens...

It's nothing serious. If you want to read up on it...
