Remote Keyless entry system will not unlock doors

If you encounter a customer concern regarding doors not
unlocking when using the Remote Keyless Entry System, check
for possible installation of aftermarket LED light bulbs. These
bulbs may produce electrical noise that may interfere with the
operation of the Remote Keyless Entry System.

If you determine the Remote Keyless Entry System door unlock
malfunction is caused by an aftermarket accessory, inform the
customer and do not attempt any repairs to the vehicle.

I did not want to post this 'updated M-Tip' as the INJECTOR Colors information in it for Series II Engines is WRONG.....(and yes attempts have been made to MNAO over the past 10 months to have it rectified...all on deaf ears).

PRIMARY..........GREEN.........#N3R1-13-250......NOT RED as in this M-Tip

SECONDARY....Dark RED......#N3R2-13-250......NOT BLUE as in this M-Tip

For ALL Series II 6 Port Engines...

2 X PRIMARY Green Injectors install directly into the intermediate Iron Housing.

I noticed that too. That's a big torque number for wheels.

9krpmrx8 07-07-2011 09:46 AM

Now this should be stickied. Good stuff.

DarkBrew 07-07-2011 09:48 AM

Good info! Thanks

Mazda had already upped the suggested torque from 80 to 90. I don't know where the 108 recommendation came from.

Cool. The room fuse notes are interesting. I will have to remind myself to do that whenever I disconnect the battery. I wonder why they pull the room fuse during shipping?

Brettus 07-07-2011 03:39 PM

Great stuff Ash .

I've been using 110 since the car was new, but I didn't realize that the official recommendation was 108.

TeamRX8 07-18-2011 01:06 AM

I use 105 myself, I doubt a +/- a few ft-lbs will matter much

ASH8 07-18-2011 01:12 AM

Agree on a few lb's, Me too between 105-110 ft lbs

nycgps 07-18-2011 08:11 AM

i just turn mine until I can't turn it anymore using the stock wrench (whatever it's called) from the emergency kit.

never had any problems :)

olddragger 07-20-2011 03:15 PM

i have seen dealerships hooking a battery charger up to the battery while working on the car.

This is standard practice for any shop.

Just in case any Interior Light Switches are left on or door ajar...so No dead Battery.

some of these are not so great; I can easily reach in from the top side of the engine bay and remove all four spark plugs with a 3/8" ratchet and sparkplug socket, so why would I want to lift the car, pull a wheel, and use a long extension with swivel just to only reach two of the plugs that way? While you can reach the other two easily from underneath while it is up in the air that recommendation seems like extra time and effort which are the service techs worst enemy.

Many of the people doing service on RX-8s have never seen one before ;)

Hey, thanks for this thead! I just stumbled upon it, and saw the Manual Transmission Whirring Noise. Woo hoo! I've been paranoid about that sound for years, even though I know others have mentioned it too. I just figured all our clutch bearings or whatever were going bad, lol.

One less thing to obsess about!

I've seen newbies ask about it from time to time as well, so it's nice to have something "official" to show them :)

New (revised) warnings about 'some' "aftermarket devices" which Mazda may warranty void on if the causal problem..

If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery), interview the customer before proceeding with normal
Workshop Manual diagnosis. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Ask the customer if any
aftermarket devices have been installed. Below are a couple of examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by
aftermarket devices.
