Mazda Hood Badge Removal
 

Dunno if this is terribly technical, but how do you shave the badges? Are they all glued on? Do you just get your nails under there and pull? Is there a risk of pulling up paint?

if i understand it correctly the front badge has two posts. the holes would have to be filled. the rears come right off from what i hear. i think the best way is a heat gun and floss.

Sort of saw back and forth with the floss between the badge and the paint?

Actually, this next question might be fun - What do you think a dealer's reaction would be if I brought a lease in for service with all the badges missing?

I don't think the dealer would care. The bank holds the note.

Mmm this is a lease I worked out with the dealer. There's no bank involved, unless you mean Mazda Finance or whatever they call themselves aren't going to be in the garage bay checking cars?

hmmm, I don't know if you leased directly with Mazda. Dealerships are independently run, I still think they wouldn't care, but I've been wrong before.

They check the car on return of lease.

You will have to pay list price and labor to have the Mazda Logo's installed.

If I finance the final payment, will they ever check the car?

I dunno about the U.S. but here in Canada leases are put through Mazda Canada Credit, each dealership uses their choice of bank for financing though.

Read the fine print on your lease agreement, most say that you have to bring the car back in the condition it was leased out in, save for some wear and tear. Our company leases vans and we have to fix all dents, scratches, etc before we return them, or the dealer will ( usually at a higher cost). In one case they made us fix the van before one of our employees could buy it, then they jacked up the selling price to relfect the repairs .

Incorrect.. EVERY BADGE HAS POSTS IN THEM THAT MAKE HOLES IN THE BODY!!!! WHY MAZDA WHY!!!!????? geez..you'd think mazda has heard of 3m tape before. UGH!! anyways.. sorry about that.. yeah..every one man.. so plan on doin some body work/paint. the mazda on the back has 2 posts...i believe the rx-8 on the back has 3...both mazda emblems have 2...

would be better off gettin a carbon-fiber trunk lid and for the front....diff faschia like mazdaspeed or the such. good luck.

You're almost right... they all have posts except for the "RX-8" badge on the left rear. It's a stick on.

Now that I have it, I really feel no urge to do anything with the badges. They don't seem to clutter the design as much when I'm standing there looking at the actual car. I thought the front license plate was going to drive me nuts, but it doesn't bother me. I'm just a happy, RX-8 ownin' guy, I guess. hehe

The RX-8 is the only emblem that doesn't have holes.

The front emblem has 3 holes.

Get a local homeless boy to show you how to do it. One of them showed me in my absense :mad:

the front emblem has a total of 3 holes. I replaced my bumper and had them shave the emblems off. Two of the holes are symetrical and the other one is offset.
