Mazda dealer or other mechanic?
So I have a new coolant reservoir I need to have put on my 04, and my Mazda dealer charges outrages prices for labor and they said they will take no responsibility of they break the nipple off of my original radiator. If it does break, I will have to buy another radiator and they will charge me about $350 for labor on the radiator and about $145 labor on my reservoir.
There's no way I am going to pay that much for just that, but I literally have no time to do any of them myself or I at least would replace my reservoir. So what I'm asking, is would it be a bad idea to take my car to have the radiator and reservoir replaced by a general mechanic that has worked on my family's cars for over a decade? I'm guessing replacing a radiator on the RX8 is something a mechanic can handle, but again I'm not sure so I would like advice :) Thanks. |
Replacing a reservoir, and possibly a radiator, is something that any competent mechanic can handle. Just make sure you aren't buying inferior parts.

I agree with Wingznut:)

Easy fix for a other mechanic, or you could just do it yourself and save your hard earned money for labor costs.
