magnecor wires

I'm wanting to know of anyone has used magnecore wires? I had changed my coils, wires and plugs about 2 months ago, maybe 3. I went cheap price and got the ngk wires from a website, somewhat known. (idk if i cab say the name lol) but i didn't feel comfortable with the wires cuz they were marked "1" and "2" instead of the colors. And they didn't match the correct length of the oem wires that Mazda dealer had changed. Now i have the p0300 code again. And i think the wires may had caused this. Any advice?

One thing I noticed when installing my ngk wires was its really hard to connect them to the spark plugs, you need to make sure you feel them snap in place, I would definitely check all four for good connection this is a common problem from what I been reading

Yea i did too, the ngk wires either had extra slack (didn't mind) or they were a bit short so i had to like struggle a little to put them, and i kept pushing to try and make them click, but only one of them clicked i think. Should i just replace, or double check?

So you changed one wire at a time and could not find the correct length in the ones you bought? The wires are specific lengths so if one has more slack and one is very tight then you would want to switch those wires.

I did them again. Two of them weren't all the way in. Both trailing wires didn't click. I'll check if the light went off later when i take it to auto zone.

Well, it feels a little better lol. My start up is a bit quicker, and my response is faster too. Lol i feel stupid for leaving the wires on how they were :P lol and again, thanks guys. This club is actually helpful :D: : beer:

Ok, i lied lol. The code I'd still on, i didn't disconnect the negative terminal tho. Would that make the code to stay on?

xexok 02-13-2013 12:06 AM

You have to delete the codes yourself either by removing the battery cable, using a code reader, or going to autozone and having them do it.

DR04RX8 02-13-2013 08:08 PM

Ok, I'll just disconnect the battery. And the exhaust was blowing out grayish smoke. What does that mean? I know when that happens on piston engines, that's a blown head gasket

Lol, face palm doesn't help me. I've seen this grayish/blue smoke about 4 times total. I still don't know what it means:crying:

I've had the same set of magnecor wires on for over 80k miles. I've changed plugs and coils, but never wires, and everything is running great. I frankly dont understand what the mechanism by which they would "wear out" would be. Good wires, nuff said.

Thanks man!! And whips you happen to know about that grayish blue smoke??

deadphoenix52 02-14-2013 09:41 PM

blue smoke is oil.

10mm magnecors was one of the first things i did to my car. idk if theyre better than the stock ngks. but one of those broke so they are certainly tougher.

DR04RX8 02-14-2013 09:55 PM

Is it normal tho? The smoke, i know its designed to burn oil. And also i have a gutted cat, does that make a diff?

Spook_rx8_2007 03-11-2013 12:13 PM

I have the 10 mm magnecor wires with the esmeril ignition kit, i also gutted the catalytic converter. i havent had a problem with them. i like them. As with the smoke, the only time i have smoke come out is when the engine floods after i leave sitting for a long time when i go on vacations or military stuff.

I posted up a set of 10mm Magnecor wires on the FS forum yesterday, only 1k miles on them
