Low idle noise

I have an A/T and the noise occurs when the vehicle is not in motion and and at low RPM's (less than 2000). The noise resembles a bad A/C belt "chirping", but is only heard when next to the front fenders. I only have about 4800 miles on the car so far, and hopefully, it isn't the A/C belts.

Any thoughts? Comments?

Could be a vacuum leak, open the hood and listen again. It could also be a belt noise, which you should also be able to detect from under the hood.

There is a distinctive chirpy sound to the rotary engine from stock though. It shouldn't be too loud, but when you depress the accelerator quickly you may sometimes hear it. It is normal, and is the sound of the distinctive and violent combustion of the rotary engine. The combustion chamber is very long, and consequently has differing pressures in it as the rotor moves from one end to the other. As you ignite the mixture the different pressures expand at different rates, causing the noise.

I can't diagnose your vehicle over the internet though. Have a dealer listen to it for you, or compare it another car.
