Jet Air Nozzle and Oil Metering Pump

I am trying to figure out which hose goes to the Jet Air Nozzle, and which one goes to the Oil Metering Pump. I know there are color stripe indicators at the end of the hoses, but I have had alot of non-dealership engine work done on the car and am not sure if the hoses may have gotten switched. I just basically want to confirm the location.
Comming from the intake, both hoses seem to be routed around the alternator. One hose travels left of the alternator and ataches to a metal tube (which is visible looking from the top down). The other hose continues straight back toward the engine and disapears underneath before I can tell where it connects.

I have looked deeply through the shop manual and found both components, but the diagrams are still not clear.

Would somebody be able to tell me which hose is going to the Jet Air Nozzle and which one is going to the Oil Metering Pump?

Thank you very much!

with the engine on, disconnect both of the hoses and listen for the metallic whine. Pinch-off the hoses one at a time. When you pinch the jet-air hose, the whine will stop.

Well, that's what I initially thought and tried pinching off the hoses a while back.

1) When I pinched off the hose going to the left of the alternator (that connects to the metal tube), the engine started sputtering, but the whining continued.

2) When I pinched off the hose going straigt back from the alternator the whining stopped completely.

I thought the second was the Jet Air Nozzle hose at first, but after reading Mazda's TSB regarding the whining noise, it stated that it could be coming from the Oil Metering Pump -or- the Jet Air Nozzle.

I am curious about the first hose that I pinched off that almost caused the engine to stall. Would that be a product of the Oil Metering Pump, or the Jet Air Nozzle not getting air. My guess would be the Jet Air Nozzle.

Do you or does anyone else have an opinion about that?

Thanks for your reply!

correct hose

i believe the hose you are looking for is the one that goes behind the alternator. from the research i have done, it states that it should be the top hose running behind the alternator. i hope that helps

oops

let me clarify. the jet air nozzle hose leads behind the alternator. sorry about that

So how do u fix it? Just take the jet air hose off and replace the omp?

Search is such a fun thing

Now on my 2005 RX8 the Jet Air hose is clearly marked with a Yellow line and the OMP a white line where they connect to the intake accordian tube before the TB.

I've heard others are not so lucky.

Both the OMP and Jet Air tubes run behind the Generator however you should be able to follow the Jet Air tube to the LIM.

edit:
This diagram is valid for the 2003-2008 models .. not sure about the Series II

Dunno what his problem is either ....
The hose that runs towards the back and disappears is the one to the OMP.

The Jet Air hose should be found around the T-Stat area and runs down to the LIM after that

Can anyone explain what the "Jet Air Nozzle System" is / does?

Only info I found was it has something to do with helping the fuel mix in the air???
