Installing the upstream O2 sensor on our '05
We're in the process of installing an upstream O2 sensor in the header on our race car. The OEM harness seems to be in place throughout the engine comparment and I'm trying to confirm the location of the plug for the sensor. The sensor is approximately 17.5" long so it comes off the OEM exhaust manifold and comes up to the engine.
Can anyone describe the location or better yet, shoot a photo and post it so I'm sure we're hooking it into the correct plug? Thank you in advance, Eric |

Sorry
Sorry, I wasn't sure where to post this quesiton. Where should I move this quesiton?
Thank you, Eric |
Delete you other thread as well.
Post in the Troubleshooting section. The front O2 sensor can be a bitch to reach. Sorry I don't have a picture of it. Its attached the header manifold and you need a special wrench to remove it ... that is if you don't want to take everything apart around it |
It's on top of the OEM exhaust manifold, at the 'back' end of it just in front of the flange where the cat/midpipe bolts to.
Assuming you have an aftermarket header, the position could change, but the OEM harness would have the length needed to get to that point. http://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/im...ze/2F04501.jpg |

you have a wiring diagram--correct?
the front o2 engine harness connector if i remember correctly is toward the middle of the rear top part of the engine. There are several connectors in that general vicinity so consult your wiring diagram to be certain. |
The connector is in a terrible location - between the oil filter and the clutch, on top behind the upper intake manifold....good luck.

You guys are great, thank you. We have a header on the race car so the O2 sensor is down on the collector. I was trying to confirm the location of the plug on the harness and you guys have comfirmed that it's on the back of the engine just above the transmission housing. I found the four wire plug and just wanted to make sure we were good to go.
Thanks again for all the help! |
