Installing inner coolant seal
Hello everyone,
I will begin rebuilding my engine soon. The seal kit I bought includes an inner coolant jacket where the orange material is encased by a transparent plastic-like material. The shape of the cross section of the inner coolant jacket is circular where is the outer is rectangular. I will post pics as soon as I find my camera. The way the inner jacket fits into the housing inner sleeve doesn't seem like it would form a complete air tight seal? Does the seal reform as the engine is compressed together or is it good enough as is? Thanks I spoke to an expert today and they do not recommend installing these seals. They are cheaper but won't last as long. Go with OEM whenever you can. |
are you serious ?
did you not read the FSM before you start ur rebuild ? |

did you not read the FSM before you start ur rebuild ? I did read this manual though: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2B...hyRnJodTQ/view As well as another one on the site posted by a mod. They recommend jelly though I'll probably use hylomar if the seals are compatible. It's just the shape of the seals doesn't seem like they'll form an airtight seal, I'd love for anyone else to chime in. I will update answer accordingly when I go to see an expert to help people in the future. |
