Ignition Coil Bracket Removal

Hi

As many here have done, I snapped off the bolt that holds the ignition coil to its bracket. I searched, and found that people usually suggest drilling/cutting the remnants of the bolt (which is welded in place), and then tapping in a new bolt.

I want to do this, but can't get the bracket off. The bracket is held by three bolts, which I removed. However, it is attached to what looks like a pipe at two points (I believe the pipe contains some kind of electrical wires, as it looks like it is coming out of the battery. I can't for the life of me get this pipe off - any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as the car is undriveable right now.

thanks

You talking about the wire harness retainer clip??...it is like a c shaped clamshell....just pop it open and it will come off...

Thanks for the quick reply.

The C-shaped clamshell's on the forward attachment point of the coil bracket, (i.e. near coil 1 of 4, when counting from the front of the car to the back) - I tried prying the tab open with a flathead, but didn't want to force it - I'll try again

The same wire harness is attached to the coil bracket near coil 4, and it looks like it is zip-tied in place, i don't see any tabs that I can pop on that one

Didn't work - I pried the tab as hard as I could, it didn't come off - I must be doing something wrong - or is it actually that hard to get the clamshell to open?

Slip the flat head in, pry up, it will come out

I'm having the same issue... over torqued the last bolt.

What did you end up doing?

those shitty bolts will break 90% of the time.

Drill it out and put a new stainless in, use some dielectric grease when u're done assembly, it prevents rust. cuz yes, stainless steel DOES rust, it's just a bit more rust resisting than regular bolts.
