i would appreciate a little help, thank you

Hi guys,

I'm an Rx-8 owner from Romania and I've had a great deal of trouble with my car so far(apart from changing a lot of parts because of the bad roads). I'm on my second engine now and I have a serious fear that I might have problems with this one also(compression issues). I'm seriously contemplating an engine swap. If any of you know a company that is able to do that please point me in their direction(since I'm not from the usa, any tuner in any country will do just fine). The fact is i know very little about the legal aspects of this thing. This is why I'm not doing it myself here in Romania. I would prefer a serious tuning company that could also deal with getting the right paperwork after finishing the upgrade.

What I'm interested in is a petrol turbo engine(something like the one on the impreza or the mazda mps 2.3 turbo engine) - i'm not sure if i can use the engine from another make on the mazda. Someone told me that there might be some copyright issues in the middle. Also I would absolutely love to be able to make it a 4wd. 1/4 mile races are extremely popular here and I'm up against some serious competition.

Just to make sure I was clear enaugh: do you know of any tuners that would/could do the engine swap on the rx-8, and if so, what engine am I allowed to swap the renesis with?

Thank you for your time and excuse me if this has been discussed before. The contents of the forum are quite large and I haven't watched it for quite a while now.

nothing? come on guys. I'm sure you must have heard something like this being done somewhere across the globe.

ok, let me get this straight...

1. u are already on your 2nd engine. (what did u do to break the 1st one?) strike 1.
2. u want to put a ms 2.3 turbo in an rx-8. pure blasphemy) strike 2.
3. u want to convert the car to a 4wd. (um, there are subarus for that.) strike 3.

i think u simply bought the wrong type of car for what u want to do is all. <shrugs>

You need to read & search more. Thats your answer.

1)i can't upgrade my renesis without having to change an engine every 10.000 km
2)the 2.3 is not blasphemy, the engine could go up to 600hp much easier than this one
3) i have been searching a lot and I was hoping you guys could tell me where to search. if you know these things than it's not so hard to point me in their directon, right? I would like to know if there are users on the forum that did this, tuners that do it an so on and so forth.

P.S. It doesn't have to be the 2.3turbo from mazda... it can be any other engine as long as the paperwork is possible to get done.

So again. Please help if you know anything, my first renesis died at 18.000km and that's a little over 11.000 miles; died while running. compression issue.
Don't get me wrong, I love this car. That the reason why i'm not considering selling it. I've just had too many problems with the original engine and I'm looking for a way out. It's almost impossible to sell in my country anyway because of the gas consuption.

Your engine died because you have bad luck.

My engine have 40,433 miles without any problems. MILES. That equals to 65071 kilometers of trouble free operation.

You cant really push stock MZR 2.3 engine to 600hp without better pistons say from Cosworth. if you try to push a stock MZR 2.3 to 600, your piston and rods gonna snap before you even get around the block.

There is NO direct drop in to get another engine. You have to modify A LOT of things.

Not to mention, your first engine might be still good, its just that you baby it too much and had a carbon lock or something.

So dont blame the engine, you have to enjoy what it is.

when i was thinking 600hp i was also thinking forged pistons, huge turbo, big injectors, stand alone electronics... the works
i know it's not going to be direct bolt on. that's why i'm looking for a specialised company to do the swap. if you have any details or know any company that might attempt this or has tried before and succeded, please be so kind as to give me a hint

the forged pistons work the same as the cast ones. both will bolt on.

Pure Blasphemy !!

Geez guys, I AM COMPELLED to beg for your forgiveness on his behalf ! It seems to me we are the only Romanian 8 owners subscribed here and he wants to swap engines ! :dammit: No excuse here ! It's like being hooked up with Carmen Electra and asking her to do her tits smaller and make a sex-change surgery just because you are 'special' and like things to go otherwise ! (No offense meant for anyone, but you HAVE to understand my point of view !) I am speechless ! I have to make a stand !

Yes ! I know ! I will blow my engine up then I will change it with....with...WITH A BRAND NEW KICKING ASS RENESIS !!!. I'm on my way right now. Talk to you tomorrow...if I survive this night.
