How to remove the air ducts from the PCM housing???

Hello,

I want to send my PCM out to Racing Beats but had difficult time removing the 1st air duct (the one on the left) from the PCM housing. It was a pain in the rear removing the top cover off the PCM. Those taps were very fragile and I think I broke everyone of them. I managed to remove the PCM out of the housing without having to undo the 1st air duct but eventually I will need to know how to do that before I get the PCM ship back from Racing Beats. Anyone that had done this task before please show me how to remove this dang air duct. Thanks.

Keep tabs.....

The tabs are pretty tight, but should yield to a flat blade screwdriver - just make sure it's a warm day or a heated garage, if they're cold they are brittle and may snap off.

I've had the ducts out a couple of times for various reasons, and never noted them as too tough....

Get a hairdryer , blow it directly around that area for maybe 10-15 minutes.

After that its easy to take it off.

Dont try to force it out when its cold, cuz its going to snap off like ^^ said.

Why do you need to remove the air ducts?? just open cover and unscrew the brackets...remove PCM from the plastic case...send it in. You don't want to send them the whole case???

Thanks guy for the reply. It was 5 degree in the garage last night so I snapped those tabs left and right. I removed the PCM out without having to undo the air ducts last night but it would be easier to put those screws back on if I can have the housing outside the engine bay. Must be the cold temp that cause all the difficulty in removing those tabs/air ducts.

Another idea wpould have been to do the job after going for a drive . Does not take much to get everything hot under there.

I just sort of jammed a flat head into mine and ripped it out. The tab broke but who cares once it's bolted in it has no place to move anyways.

Yes, I jammed a flat head screw driver in there too but mine didn't come off like it supposes to....I will tried again tonight. I will ask the neighbor for a hair dryer and see if some heat will help.
