how to removal tag light bulb
Light is out. How do I replace the bulb?
Does the hole assembly slide off the bumper lip or do I need to squeeze my hand up in the hole and try to unlock the bulb socket or does it just pull out. :shocking: |
Yes, the whole rear tag (plate) light assembly simply plastic-retainer snaps out of the bumper.

I'm having a brain fart, what do you mean by tag light? The license plate light? If it's that then you just need to pry off the little cover and pull the bulb out.

Yep, dem southern boys call 'em license 'tags', whereas we Yankees more properly call them 'plates.' ;)
edit: I misread your post OP. You can simply replace the bulb from the receptacle. It would be pretty silly if you couldn't. The Mazda Owner's Manual does a good job of showing how to remove & replace all bulbs. |
just get a flat head screwdriver and pop it out.

Thanks guys. I read the owner's manual after I posted.
Bose, Huey; yup use-a right. We call em tags down in the dirty south. Thanks again!! BTW, nice avatar BOSE. |

Excellent. 'Teach a man to fish.' ;)
Just in case you ever do have to remove the bumper (as did I when some scofflaw hit & ran me), the 'tag' light must be disconnected. That's its cable and socket resting on the bumper strut. The socket just clips out (retain the outer parts to transplant on the new bumper shell). |
Sorry just a little ignorance on my part, having spent 99% of my life in Utah. I know nothing of the workings of the world around me. haha
Thanks for educating me.:dunce: |
^ ...but by your avatar, you obviously well know of the truly important things in life. The rest is just details. ;)
