odd that you get the same mileage for city and hwy... O.o

I feel the need to I'll put in my 2 cents on mileage...
Just IMHO, I could care less about the mileage of my car.
1). I'm certainly not going to worry about how to drive to save some gas or money. I'm going to enjoy my car thank you.
2). If saving money is an object, I will gripe about oil conglomerates and the government on keeping gas prices down. I'll boycott certain companies and vote accordingly in the political world before changing my driving.
3). In the case of trying to save gas to lessen emissions and cut back on a finite natural resource, I've always been in favor for future, clean-burning, reproducible, means of transportation. Until that time, I'll be flooring my 8, thanks.

It may just be me, but it seems like most everyone commenting is actually unconcerend with fuel efficiany and the dynamics behind the brainstorming concept here. Increasing fuel economy helps drivers win races as well as save us money at the pump, guys!

Improve aerodynamics- make it lower & sleeker- reduce any drag and increase airflow. Windtunel the body design to determine things like underside paneling

Improve Drivetrain- optimize your weight to thrust (NASA meets NASCAR) know the weight you want to move around and how fast you want it to go and fast you want to get it there. Set up your gears and rotary to make it happen.

Lose Weight- This sounds bad, but think OLD School, what do cars NEED? You could remove entire systems to reduce weight if it called for it. A/C, Stereo- any plush comfy the model T didn't have could come off. Lighter materials throughout- & don't forget balance of weight distribution!

Wild Dreams- Magnetic Rotors and ceramic housings! We have one of the engines that's already set up to be converted to electro-magnetic drive! Imagine permanent magnets flipping the rotors over with polarity changes! As batteries become more efficient we could have electric cars with much more top end hp. 3 sided rotor = 1 positive, 1 negative, & 1 neutral. Next to perpetual motion engines, this would be the next best thing beside 100% effective solar paneling.

k, so edmunds.com says we are supposed to get this

Fuel Tank Capacity: 15.9 gal.
EPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway)
Manual: 18 mpg / 24 mpg
Range in Miles: (City/Highway)
Manual: 286.2 mi. / 381.6 mi.

Im getting 215 mile on a tank till the light comes on. I shift every time for the most part at 4k and i take it up to 70mph max on the highway. (I have a bright shiny red car that the cops love). Is this right? Its pretty much all highway miles but im just so sick of the poor gas mileage. I have 17,000 miles on my 2005 manual rx8. whats the deal here! Can someone message me and let me know what to do?

That is the old EPA estimate. It has been lowered to something like 18/22.

I actually thought about magnetic rotors......
