Help Problem!!!
 

Ok. First, Yes I did a search and couldn't find anything. I was installing my passport 8500 directly as the instructions on this forum said. I finish putting it in and time for the test. ( oh this is the hard wire install through the top console) My passport doesn't turn on. So I start pressing buttons to mach sure the console works everything is fine EXCEPT my moonroof won't close. I spiced the wire that the post said to but now it just hates me. Call the dealer said he will look at it on thursday. Just wondering if any of you can give me a hand in figuring out what went wrong. God I hope this is under warranty.

To save yourself more stress, possible $$, and obviously no sunroof - - - - - I would suggest going back in and check VERY carefully what you did.

It doesn't hate you :eek:, it just doesn't work for a reason... it's was not done right... else it WOULD work! and this of course assumes (and you know what the danger there) that the directions were correct...for example, did you read through to the END where corrections may have been made? I am sure you thought it was OK, but you now know it is not.

BE CALM. READ ALL directions again, go back over your work. Esp. look for broken or cut wires. Hopefully you can determine the mistake. I doubt your dealer will cover your work screwing up the sunroof, but maybe he's a good guy and will... or maybe you can fix it and tell him - never mind.

I already double checked everything twice. The only thing that it seems that it could possibly be is were I spliced the wire. Also I printed out the entire post and did it step by step, the same wire the post said, everything. I will try on more time tommorrow afternoon when I have more free time. Until then I'm driving the saturn:mad: .

If you hardwired into your overhead wiring, you might want to pull off all the wire taps and make sure you didn't sever a wire when you were splicing in.

If you did a fuse adapter install, make sure all your fuses are in.

I had a problem with the fuses after I did the fuse adapter hardwired radar detector and the shock sensor. I installed my radar detector and everything worked fine. After the shock sensor install a few days later, things just stopped working (first the A/C, then the windows). Some of my fuses either miraculously disappeared or were never there to begin with.

Check your fuse box (in the kick panel on the driver’s side by the door) and make sure all your fuses are installed. There is a pin out behind the cover. Just make sure they all have the proper fuses.

Good luck with the dealer. I think I would have posted here before I called them... but that is just me.

You have a problem and too many variables to isolate where the problem lies at this point. So, eliminate all the variables.

First thing: Check your fuse. The sunroof, I know from hard experience, is fused on the same circuit as the A/C. If during your install of the detector hard wire you accidentally crossed power and ground it would have blown the fuse. Your sunroof wouldn't work, your A/C wouldn't work - and your detector wouldn't work because it's on the same circuit for power.

The fuse is the fourth one down from the top in the fuse panel on the driver's left kick panel. It's 7.5 A. So replace it (there's some spares stored beside the live fuses) and see if all works.

If not, or if the new fuse immediately blows, then the problem is in your new wiring. The thing to do is to completely disconnect any new connections you made. Replace the fuse, then wire by wire, reconnect the new wiring. You'll eventually find the culprit.

No offence, but why on earth would it be under warranty? The Mazda warranty is to fix problems with Mazda equipment and parts. You have a wiring problem caused by a non-Mazda person trying to install a non-Mazda electrical component - the problem has absolutely nothing to do with warranty.

You most certainly will have to pay for their time and materials.

I checked all the wires their fine, AND low and behold it was the fuse I looked at the wrong fuse before I thought it would be with the power windows not labeled A/C. Everything is all good now thanks all for the help. Gordon wishfull thinking never hurts.

yep looks like I have to find one of the little add-a-circuit things. I got the exact one from NAPA in a previous thread but I can't get it in the empty fuse slot. I guess I have to spend a little more time working on that, or get one that will fit in. Once again thanks all.
