help please

ok...i followed the instructions in the DIY forum here about rewiring my fog lights...i used Maniac's version of going into the black and rec wire with the brown wire.

i used a red splice connector (as in other pics in that thread) put the black/red all the way through and the brown wire (coming from the bundle not the part coming from the fuse box) into the other hole and clamped it down. all other lights came on but not the fogs at all.

did i do something wrong? any troubleshooting issues i should look at?

i got it back to working correctly for now by splicing the brown wire back together, but i am not happy with myself, i know this should work, right?

I typed a response earlier but must have messed up on the 'submit'. You probably don't have the brown wire making a connection in your connector. My first attempt didn't catch each of the wires and I just broke that connector and did it over. The brown IF IIRC is the power to the fog light, so if they are not lighting with a turn of the switch then you lost power to the brown.

And you are connected into the tan wire leading INTO the fuse box and not away from it, right?

errrr....no. left the end hanging from the fuses open and connected the part running down into the bundle of wires into the black/red wire from all other lights....that sounded logical!!

BUT now that i look at the pics again, it appears i was wrong...THATS why it didnt work!!!

i also blew the fuse and didnt have taillights or driving lights or reflector lights!! maybe had i done it right!! but do i need to upgrade to a 15 amp fuse with this change?
