Help!!!! Lost Key problem

Hey - What's up Guys\Gals

Model - 2007 RX-8 Grand Tour

Here's my problem: I normally carry my spare key in my wallet and keep the keyless entry on my key ring.

Last week I lost my wallet with my spare key still in it {Along with all my ID's etc..} That means that whomever finds\found my wallet knows my address and the type of car I own .....

How do I change all my locks so that the lost key doesn't work ?????

I started having immediate nightmares about someone walking up and using that lost key to drive off with my car. I'm currently using a CLUB ... But I would like to have a permanent solution.

My Thanks...

I think the only option is to have a new key programed into it. I'm not sure if they can change the code on the key you have. Or you need new key. Either way the car is going to have to be reprogrammed with a new code. And I hope you have some ID now or you know the dealer very well.

At least with a new key programmed they can't steal the car.
Far as them using the key to gain access into the car, I BELIEVE if you set the alarm and try to unlock/open the door with a key (instead of unlocking it with the transmitter), the alarm will go off.
Now don't quote me on that, but I thought that happened to me once.
Wouldn't stop them from gaining access, but at least the loud horn alarming might scare them off.

Thanks for the info ... but are we both talking about the same hardware key.

I was thinking that they would have to change out the locks or at least alter the tumblers.

To be clear ... in case of confusion {I lost my actual key NOT the electronic one}

I should add - Excuse my ignorance on this topic. :)

You have the card transmitter right? That was what I was referring to.

Just go back to your dealership, they will reprogram for you
is gonna be around 90~100 dollars, without key tho, just programing
if you need new keys, buy on e Bay

I tried that today locked the car and activated the alarm with the keyless remote then, I tried using the key to open the door and the alarm didn't go off.

So with the spare key they will still be able to gain access ... this sucks

Thanks for all the help Guys.
