Hard to shift every gear?
 

Last night did a 2nd gear pull up to 7k rpm, went to put it in third gear and it bounced off so I put it in 4th.

Not sure if I had the clutch all the way in so probably my own fault.
But now today. Every gear is hard to shift. Not just third.
Every single gear is hard to get into. And it's weird doesn't matter what rpm I'm at. Sometimes harder to get into gears than other times.

Is there a main synchro or something? Anyone have an online shop manual explaining the internals of the rx8 manual transmission?

check the clutch pedal bracket. they crack and then break

Hmm yeah I knew that problem existed but forgot about it. Makes sense though. Clutch isn't engaging all the way could be a culprit. I'll check that thanks

Yeah it is easy while the cars shut off.
I think i found the problem. After 200.mph mentioned clutch I had a light bulb go off, I dont know how I didnt think of the hydraulic system while experience the problem for the first time.

The Clutch Master Cylinder seems to be leaking from inside the car. Possible leaking internally and coming out into the cabin. There is a slight trace of brake fluid under the piston and looks like its coming from the seal that gets pushed inward.

Going to order one and replace it. Ill fill in what my findings are for future trouble-shooters.

It was just a weird coincidence that the pressure within the system dropped the most to give me such issues while shifting after banging a gear. Because before my little fiasco it shifted like butter.

Theres a dew threads on just that I've found recently. I was experiencing the same thing but it was my fault. I swapped brake fluid and did not bleed the clutch good enough the first time.

I just changed the clutch master cylinder spent a couple hours bleeding the clutch. its thoroughly bled.
Problem still happening. Actually tried to start the car with the clutch to the floor in reverse and the car jumped back on me. The clutch pedal is not engaging the clutch all the way. Starting to think its the clutch its self. Not sure what I should try next.

When clutches die they almost always stop letting the car go forward. Unless the pressure plate locked up or somethin g strange like that. It might be the slave cylinder.

Check your clutch pedal bracket again. Lay under the dash and press the pedal. Look for the bracket to flex away from the firewall where it screws in. Also check it for left right play.

It could also be out of adjustment with the new cylinder. Did you attempt to adjust it?

yeah i adjusted the pedal and the bracket looks good to me, doesnt budge when I put the clutch to the floor

just came across the TSB for clutch hard to disengage. Ordered a slave and going to try that

Is this a clutch problem or a stiffness when moving the shifter.
My shifter was stiff after some aggressive driving once. I couldn't even change gears. It slowly began to loosen up after a couple of minutes and allowed me to shift. But, it took quite a while before it was back to normal. I have no idea what caused it or what change allowed it to start working again.

I believe its a clutch not engaging all the way problem. Making it hard to shift because the clutch is not engaged.

I think I have been noticing a little bit of this problem starting to arise over time, When I put it in first gear with clutch to the floor sometimes the car clunks this is kind of a hint that the clutch is not engaging all the way. After banging off third gear a couple weeks back the problem got worse and now I cant drive it, I cant even put it in reverse or any gear I had to push it out of my garage.

Update for future viewers.
All fixed after this evening.

The problem was first noticed after it became hard to get into every gear.

I installed a new slave cylinder today, the old one looked like it was gone bad compared to the new one. The new cylinder would spring back when pushed in and also blow out air; the old cylinder didn't blow any air and it would get stuck when pushed in.

While pumping the clutch to bleed the system my clutch pedal snapped right off
Welded it back up, installed it (what a bitch job). Than bled it a couple more times and cars back to normal. If that didnt work my next step was to drop the trans to inspect the clutch components. Thank god it didn't come to that.

Problem found for future trouble shooters.

After replacing the entire hydraulic system; Master cause I saw oil leaking out of it, Slave because I found a TSB on slave letting go inside. And the hydraulic line because the connection where it went from rubber hose to metal line was rusty and looked like it was leaking.
It Didn't fix the problem so I decided to pull the trans and order a clutch.

Found out the problem was the pressure plate, Was kinda thinking one of these broke or bent causing it to not engage all the way.

I have exactly the same problem, while sitting at the stop light I got green put it in first gear and before I even released the clutch pedal the car started shaking and I was getting a grinding noise. I pulled in the next parking lot to check what the problem was and it would not go in the first gear, turned the car off put it in gear turned back on and no problem it was shifting like it was nothing wrong. Next morning I get ready for work get in the car started tried to put it in gear nothing, it would not bulge, shut down the engine put it in gear and everything was working perfect. I called my mechanic who is a rotary specialist he got in the car started up listened to it for 5 minutes and he told me "Is the pressure plate" . Now I'm waiting for the next paycheck to replace the whole clutch kit.
