Good results on latest Used Oil Analysis
 

Here is the text of my latest Used Oil Analysis:

Motorcraft 5W-20 SM/GF-4
-15853 total miles on vehicle, 2004 Mazda RX8, 1.3L Renesis Rotary, 4 spd AT
-4 qt oil at change (hot), capacity is 7 quarts, 0.2 qt added during interval
-Shell V-power gasoline, 1 oz Fuel Power added per 5 gal
-Mobil 1 M-110 oil filter
-K&N Filtercharger air filter
-Spirited driving, occasional redlines, 70% highway, 30% city, 10-60 min/day in traffic jams, temperatures ranging from low 65 F to high 98 F
-Lab is Blackstone
-UOA#1 2072 mi on oil Motorcraft 5W-20 SL/GF-3, in service 3 months, sample date 5-1-05, 11008mi total
-UOA#2 2356 mi on oil Motorcraft 5W-20 SM/GF-4, in service 2 months, sample date 8-13-05, 15853mi total

So are you sold on Fuel Power (FP60)?

Fuel Power seems to be a better option than something like TC-W3. It cleans as well as lubricates. I believe that it is helping keep the engine clean, and the insolubles down. I plan to continue using FP60, in every fill-up.

The Boron additive seems to be increased in the SM formulation of Motorcraft (Conoco). It has appeared in other UOA's.

Did terry say anything about using LC? I have no idea the effect it would have on a rotary engine. Its general purpose seems to be an anti-oxidant and upper engine cleaner. I've been using it, but since I'm running redline, I don't think I'm seeing much benefit. FP's really great though, you can't beat it at the price. An entire gallon of the stuff is about the same cost as two chevron with techron doses!

Search on BITOG for FP or Fuel Power in the additive section for information and research.

I am going to be adding LC to the oil. It may help to keep the injection pump clean, and it's chemistry is compatable to the FP. The extra anti-oxidants may drive the insolubles down even further.

I am also looking at the Havoline UOA's. Oil freaks are never happy with the status quo, LOL!!
