getting recall done today.....
Well, took my car into mazda this morning to get the recall done (heat), and will be picking it up tomorrow morning. Also, since its there, I asked they they check the plugs and what not (maybe fouled) as my fuel economy took a major dump over the last 2 weeks. Now just before my fuel economy started going downhill, I had a CEL, and using Hymee's Scanalyser, determined it to be P0420, catalyst efficiency below threshold. At the time, i talked to my service writer, and he said that i should go ahead and clear it and see if it came back.
It never did, so i didnt think anything more of it. Well, when i got to work this morning (hour commute), i realize that i left my store keys with my car keys. GREAT!!!! So i gotta ride an hour back to get my keys, then another hour to work. Well, when i got to the dealership to get my keys, john, my service writer (after hearing the storey) grabs my keys from the tech, and brings em out to me. He also brings me 3 or 4 chunks of my catalytic convertor. Well my eyes bug out, and i think to myself, wonderful, maybe this is why i had this problem , https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/getttin-dynod-today-69209/ . Fortunately, they just happened to have a new cat in stock, and replaced it today as well. I asked them to hold onto the cat until tomorrow so i could get some pics of it and get a better idea of what exactly happened, as all i saw were the chunks of metal. Cant wait to get my baby back tomorrow morning and drive her again (driving a mazda 6 auto as a loaner). I'll try and post the pics and impressions of the new flash tomorrow. |

How long ago did you flood the car? |
I want to post this here so it stays in the Tech section (no offense Canada guys) A flash can not..."not take" If the file was in the WDS it went into the car. |
i have never flooded my car, i bought it with 7200 miles, and never have flooded it in the 12000 that i have put on the car. heres a pic of the cat, and a screen shot of the pcm calibration from scanalyser.
oh, and the flash "took". held it at redline after car warmed up and after around 10 secs, came back down to idle http://home.comcast.net/~lurch519/cat_small.JPG click here for larger pic of cat http://home.comcast.net/~lurch519/recall_flash.JPG |
jeez pretty beat up cat....
also, your computer might be at risk...just fyi..lol |
I had the same recall done yesterday. Can you relate the PCM Calibration ID N3Z2ER00013H6020 to a particular "flash level"?
It certainly matches the MT firmware file name listed in the recall TSB. |
