1. Delete this post before everyone else see it.
2. I save gas by driving less :)

First link is a rip off or scam, and the second one does the same thing your intake plenum does....so theres no point in putting something in your intake system other then modifying or replacing it with after market parts. Honestly, thats stuff that is trying to give you some hope but doesn't work and upsets you in the end.

underdrive pulley seemed to increase my gas mileage slightly. Before I was averaging 16-17mpg. I did the coolant / throttle body bypass mod and agency power pulley at the same time and my last 4 tanks I got between 20-21 mpg. Seems like the pulley will pay for itself over time to me.

All my mods include, K&N v2 intake, resonated mid pipe, borla catback exhaust, ap pulley, TB bypass mod. my other mods shouldn't effect gas mileage too much or at all... wheels/tires axis hiros with slightly oversized 245/40/18 bfg tires, tein s-tech springs, short shifter

I'm pretty pleased with my gas mileage as compared to what a lot of people get.

Triperformance 04-24-2008 10:31 PM

No problem, everyone wants you to search and I don't mean to preach like everyone else but its there to use. I hope I gave you the answer you were looking for and don't get sucked into a scam!!!

They totally work! I cant believe everybody's missing out on this, just click on the lower banner. ;) Anything that sounds too good isn't real, "especially on ebay".

Try premixing. I heard that people get 2-3mph more that way, but I personally haven't tried it.

Try getting a new exhaust, it doesn't always help, but from what I've heard the stock one is fairly restrictive and hurts both power and MPG.

the best gas mileage enhancer for the rx-8 is the Cobb AccessPort. One reason the rx-8 has such crap gas mileage is because it runs so damn rich, this also leads to carbon build up and blown motors. The Cobb AP retunes the stock PCM to run proper AFRs which will save you gas and you'll gain a good bit of power. I think it's in the neighborhood of a 5-10hp increase depending on how bad (rich) your car is running currently.

It's $695, which is what you'll spend on a exhaust system that will give you less horsepower... and it will help pay for itself due to fuel mileage increase and you don't have to worry about underdriving your accessories. If you ever want to go turbo, or even supercharged.... , you're ready to go too.

The stock exhaust is not that restrictive at all. Mazda did a good job of managing the flow in and out of the Renesis. You'll get maybe 5hp if your lucky with any kind of reasonable aftermarket exhaust.

Acetone in gas mixture will increase your mileage. There is a lot of info online.

staticlag 04-25-2008 09:37 AM

Dude, if you worry about gas, then DONT BUY THIS CAR!

Its only going to get worse, I drive around 30 miles a day during the week and I put up a gas bill of around $300 a month just for cruising. When I start zooming around I can easily spend $150 a week in gas.

User24 04-25-2008 10:02 AM

I think driving a few blocks at a time, waiting 5 minutes to warm-up before shutting down, doing that several times a day for 5 days a week=140 miles per tank.

Hmmm, thanks for the correction. You have a PM, I don't want to hi-jack this thread.

Keef 04-25-2008 03:24 PM

If you have your own mind. And you can think for yourself. Than you would that air goes into the engine, compresses, ignites, and leaves the engine. You want to try to spin air? Change gas? The best way to know you have an efficient engine is to have a reliable and strong spark. Adding more air and gas to an engine that can't ignite it makes the extra little bit a waste. a waste=bad mileage

The short one. :lol2:

unfortunately you must be prepared to pay for the petrol for this baby.

but there are rewards and no one is telling you that, go and drive one first and i mean a real drive, rev through the gears and when you see how far you can rev in each gear, the power/speed and shear fun thats to be had....

you won't care about gas savers, which by the way don't really work, the pre mix i have heard helps and a decent cat back exhaust will help.

i have heard switching the dsc on the 6speed 231ps may help, doubt it though.

go on and buy one, you know you want too....
