fuel line replacement
so i found out that i've almost scraped through my fuel line and i want to get it replaced before i blow up. one of my local shops called the dealer and they said it'd be 1300 just for labor, 10 hours worth of work. is it really that much work for the fuel line? it's only scraped in one area though. towards the end of the car at the bend right where it bends up to the gas tank (super danger). could there be an alternative to replacing the WHOLE line? any input would be greatly appreciated :D i know, my car is too low ):

$1300?!? Is your dealer planning to have them pre-bent in Hiroshima and shipped over like that? Just do it yourself. If you aren't comfortable, find someone familiar with bending and fitting tubing. It's actually pretty easy and not all that dangerous. I work with sulfuric acid in similar diameter tubing (and larger) on a regular basis.

LOOOL probably... but now that i think of it, maybe it's a brake line... what are those four hard lines that run underneath the car??

I have a feeling your talking about your brake lines and if it is you must have done a good number on your frame rails! Can you post a picture of the area? If it is a brake or a fuel line and material is metal you should be able to repair the damaged section without replacing the entire line

^ Yup. Swagelok is your friend.

Metal/Plastic Fuel Line from Fuel Tank to under floor pan to left fixed side of front Chassis Rail for RX-8 is actually fairly cheap, I have no idea how a Dealer gets $1300 in Labor!!
The part is about $190 new (F151-42-61XB) |

hahah yeahhh whole underbody is pretty thrashed :P one of the two middle (of the four) hard lines has a pretty bad chip in it. i don't have a picture on hand, but i'll try to get one up this weekend. i was hearing things about rerouting the whole thing or maybe replacing that section with new line and AN fittings. and then making some sort of skid plate welded to the frame to protect it. i appreciate the help guys :D
