"Fuel Injector Flush"

I was at the dealership yesterday getting them to cover some work under warranty and one of the techs was naturally trying to upsell me on things I'd pay out of pocket. They offered new wipers (mine are shot), rotate tires, etc. but one seemed odd. He asked if I'd ever considered a "fuel injector flush" and before the words were out of his mouth the manager said "YOU DON'T WANT TO DO THAT WITH ROTARIES". The tech quickly recanted, and said "Oh, well good thing you caught me then.."

So, is this true? I presumed that an injector flush was essentially cleaning any wax/oil/dirt/etc accumulated on the injectors, but is there something else that becomes a problem with rotaries?

well at my old work we used to offer an Injector cleaner/flush that u mix a bottle of cleaner with oil and one with gas then another was injected through a vacuum line...however it could not b done on Drive by wire(our 8's) or diesels also they said that it was not a good idea to do that one(zoom was the brand) on a rotary however I'm not sure what mazda was offering but if it was the Decarb(which is not an injector flush) then that can b done!

Try some 44K (made by BG Products) in the fuel tank.

It also cleans extra cash out of your wallet. It's one of those unnecessary moneymaking services. Unless you get a load of bad gas, you're not going to have a problem. Certainly not if your car is new enough to still be under warranty.

A disease with no symptoms, but they'll happily sell you a cure.

yeah, they think most people are stupid when it comes to cars, well that may or may not be the case but with me I know enough about my car to tell them to go F%$# off. They tried to tell me my warranty wasn't any good and they won't replace my driver side blind, B.S. that warranty carries over until its expired or broken by a mod, say a turbo. Down to the point, only get what you need don't let them do extra, you know what you need and they don't.

From what I've seen, for the price of an injector flush, you could almost go buy some new injectors
