Fog Light Question

Am I going to have any issues putting an 80w 2500k Nokya yellow light in my fogs when they're rated at 55w?

PS. Never order stuff late at night when you're not really paying attention :spank:

I would assume so, the stock fogs already burn REALLY hot, you adding more heat would not be a good thing.

I wouldn't recommend it. As mentioned above, the stock 55 watt bulbs get really hot if the car isn't moving. You'll also be drawing another 30 watts through the fuse and wiring. If you want brighter foglights, go HID. They run a lot cooler.

On a semi related note. Does this mean I should not be using my foglights as running lights? Because I leave them on all the time.

i'm going with Nokya bulbs this time Jedi.. the Hoens I had last time leaked :(

and i'm not sure if i'm going to want to stay with yellow... next step will just be HID's

Jedi54 06-11-2008 07:22 PM

yeah, I think a set of RR HID fogs are in my near future.

laythor 06-11-2008 07:37 PM

mmm HID fogs. By this time next year all the bulbs in my car will be HID or LED :)

Rodger: is that an 8 specific fog light kit or just a generic one?

I did the same thing for well over a year (with Hoen yellow bulbs) and never ran into a problem.

adding fog lights is very easy to do. all you have to do is remove the front bumber. removes the black inserts on the bumper openings where the fog lights go. mount the fog lights in the predrilled holes. also all the wiring is already done. just plug the lights in, intale the switch and you are good to go. there a couple of really good DIYs on how to remove the fron bumper. its very easy.
