Finally a TSB for Water in the Rear combination light.
http://www.finishlineperformance.com...14-07-1795.pdf
God damn it, that took Mazda a LONG WHILE to issue this tsb .... let me print it out ... Everyone who has/had this problem, if u're still in warranty, print this out and bring it to da dealership ! If you're out of warranty, the new gasket cost about 30 something 40 bux, its easy to replace it urself ! |
What country calls that a combination light? I call it a tail-light.
|
I think he's from Queens.
|
|
I think thats what Mazda calls them.
Nothing to do with me, I still call them tail light. |
Queens is a multi-national society. It was perfectly OK (politically correct, in fact) for you to post using the TSB's native language.

How the shinka lights are different?

Holy just in time Batman! I just noticed some condensation in my tail light this weekend. :D: :icon_tup:
|
Yep, this is really timely. I just got the condensation for the first time last week at 77,000 miles. It's almost evaporated now, but I assume it will be back. I'll take this TSB with me next time I need an oil change. Thanks for posting!

Ken For those who *dont* have this problem yet .... its easy to make it a *problem* just open them ... pour bit of water in it ...... :wiggle: .... bring it to dealership .... and start bitching ... *cough* |
damn, so if i've never had condensation i still should get this new gasket?
|
why is it that people here think they need a TSb to get something fixed... i had my lights replaced like 2 years ago -shrug-
if its broke - take it in and get it fixed at that time if its not broke - why do you care? |

I don't know if i should report you to Mazda, beg Tommy to take down the TSBs, or punch you in the face for lowering my resale value :icon_tdow |

the reason it happen is the with the older gasket, overtime dirt can build up around the middle light area, when dirt finally clog the whole thing the water has nowhere to go and it slides into the singal light hole, thats where you got your water from. (base on my examination of my issue) Simple fix (if you're out of warranty), is that you can pull the gasket out, clean it, put it back. not sure if the new gasket can fix it completely, but hey its worth a shot. |

Its all about the gasket. if you want to save 30 bux u can just take your old one out, wash it with soap. put it on a some old newspaper(cuz newspaper absorb water FAST!) blow dry the rest of the stuff with hair dryer |
Great! I anxiously await your DIY. I have no idea how to get at my tail light. I'm a girl, don't work on cars. :)
But I bet money, my dealer would not have even tried to fix the tail light. They would've said, "Oh, you need a new one. That'll be $300, please." Thanks. |

Don't need no stinkin' TSB!
The dealership took care of mine a couple weeks ago. The said it was the little leaves that were in the tail lights that tipped them off. Whatever. Got new ones. I hope they make it another 100,000 mile without condensation! I will be pretty pissed if this happens again off warranty. Dealership made it pretty easy other than the wait for the replacements. |
I went in today for a missfire problem, and told them to replace the other side for my tail-light as I noticed it was fogged. so, now I have replaced both sides.
|
I noticed my tail lens fogged up on my '05 after it rained a few weeks ago... i thought it was a normal thing. I guess not! It hasn't damaged anything yet and I don't think it left any dry water marks.
Thanks for the tip! |
