Fiance in hospital in MN and car wont start in ga!
Okay, the clutch was already slipping due to somebody who clearly could not drive a standard was driving the "8". I took over, and the clutch gave out. It's still real tight for some reason...didn't go to floor at all. Lots of spring left. But the clutch is gone. Can go to every gear while car is running and clutch is out. Car is still running. Decide to turn it off to save gas. Decide to turn it back on 15 minutes later for warm air. Will not start. Get a ticking noise like the battery is gone.
Car gets erroneously repossessed a few days later. I get it back this morning, try to crank it, and i get the ticking noise again. Radio wont even turn on, so I Decide battery is shot, so I charge up the battery, and try to start the car. This time, sounds like it wants to crank but its not turning over. No belt or pulley moves... and I get some kind of "scraping/scratching" noise. I grab my CEL reader, and I get 6 codes: P0336 Eccentric shaft position sensor circuit range/performance problem ON 1 CCM ´ (See DTC P0336 ) P0336PD P0102 MAF sensor circuit low input ON 1 CCM ´ (See DTC P0102 ) P0102PD P2096 Target A/F feedback system too lean ON 2 Fuel system ´ (See DTC P2096 ) P0302PD Rear rotor misfire detected Flash/ON 1 or 2 Misfire WHAT THE F*** IS GOING ON!?!? :banghead:  :Eyecrazy: And I also think I heard the hum of what might be the fuel pump while the ignition was turned to on, before the attemp to start. Im in georgia. My fiance is in the hospital in minnesota, and I'd really like to be there for her right now. Somebody please help me.:sadwavey: |
you have a bad battery and or bad connections. Probably have a bad cell in the battery.
Replace battery is the 1st thing to do. OD |
Buddy just brought over his 8 and let me use his battery. perfect battery. still no start. Maybe starter? how would I know?
|
Perhaps the dudes that repossessed the car tried to hot wire the ignition to start the car. Check for messed up wiring under the hood and dash.
Try clearing the error codes to see if they return. Some or all of those may no longer be relevant. Remove the negative battery connection for a few minutes, pump the brake pedal 20 times in rapid fashion and then reinstall the negative battery connection. If the error codes return, you will have to deal with them one at a time. Check the factory service manual for instructions on determining the cause of the errors. If you don't have a manual, one is accessible on-line at: http://69.108.208.137/ryang/modify/r...8_manuals.html |
Get a rental car?
I mean seriously, your car is fucked right now. You already said the clutch is toast. How exactly are you thinking you're going to drive it once you get it started? You're going to take an unreliable car on a thousand mile road trip and expect to get there? Stop messing around with your car and go see your fiance. She's in the hospital. "oh sorry honey I'm sitting here swapping out batteries and reading misfire codes and think the clutch is fried but it wasn't my fault but my friends on the interwebz are helping me and I think I can fix it and I'll be there in a minute!" If I were her, I'd be pissed. |

My leave doesnt start until the 10th. My clutch gets fixed tomorrow/tuesday. And I can't leave on a plane, because with the mission I'm on, I can be recalled at any time. It is definitely not reliable right now, but the clutch is getting fixed tomorrow, like i said, and ill take it mazda, if i have to to figure out whats going on. But a rental car is out of the question. I am only 18. Thats not gonna fly.
Hope your fiance gets better |
Reset everything.....ESS and ECU...then try and figure out why it won't start....
I'm thinking the Security module isn't liking your key....Do you have another one? Even the Valet key..try that. It is possible that they screwed things up with the repo... If the security codes are confused...might as well take it to the dearler..there is no DIY for fixing that.. If it is that..when you turn on the ignition nothing will happen...and the security light will flash in the lower right of the left gauge cluster |

I think he said that the engine sounds like it wants to crank but it won't turnover. Doesn't sound to me like he's not having a key problem.

Is your car an 04? Some of the earlier 04's clutches tend to spontaneously explode.

Are they going to cover it under warranty?
|
They're going to argue that it's a wear and tear item... I "THINK" that there's a TSB for the earlier model 04's.
|
Too late anyways....my warranty expired awhile ago. The car has 103,000 miles on it.

glad everything got figured out
