ferrari f1 paddles on rx8
i was just thinking the other day if it woulda been easier to get an automatic rx8 rather than stick. my dad bought a ferrari with F1 paddle shifter and i knew that the rx8 had shifters as well but 4. i thought itd be pretty cool( if i had goten a/t ) if you took off the 4 shifters (2 up 2 down) and put the ferrari F1 style shifters on there
i couldnt really find a good picture of a ferrari shifter so i put a bmw one on there but same thing. instead of 2 up 2 down one up and one down and alot bigger paddles http://www.eurocarmotorsport.com/my_m3/10.jpg just thought id put it out there maybe someone wants to try it i think itd be cool |
so, u'd rather have less power just to get the "looks" of paddle shifters?
god help us... |
you know the BMW, Ferrari, and Lambo transmissions that use paddle shifters are just shifting a manual transmission for you without the shifter and the manual clutch, right? The rx-8's auto trany is a true automatic.
naw im happy with my stick rx8 i love it. i was just thinking about that because i was driving the ferrari and thought it was pretty cool. and yea i know that its a manual trans.....and lemme tell u...its a piece of shit...if you didnt know ( cause i didnt )...ferrari's( or at least my dads ) have to change their clutch every 10k miles...and theres always a problem with them....pretty dumb.....anyway i was just throwing that out there if someone had extra time and like modding their car :)
in the time i would drive a ferrari 10k miles, i would drive an rx-8 100k miles anyways. lol

 Not saying that the Ferrari is 10 times faster but I don't think the 8 is 10 x faster than the Ferrari... :naughty: Don't forget to mention what has to be done for the 30,000 mile maintenance on the Ferrari. :eyetwitch Anyone know? |
no, but im curious, drunk, and alone on a friday night, while all my friends are out and my girlfriend is at home SLEEPING, so PLEASE for the love of god, AND my sanity, tell me
On some of them the engine has to be pulled and parts replaced. Tune up runs over $4k. :(
haha, i meant i wouldn't drive the ferrari as much. it'd stay as a garage queen with the 8 as the dd. lol heck yea.
i think this would seem cool, i might look into it
this one time in band camp..
beers  |
I think 10K is pretty respectable milage out of a clutch on a race car.
Not that I am bragging but I work for Ferrari and the maintenance varies per vehicle. Some services do require the engine to be pulled down, some just the plugs, I.e. the 430. But the price range can go from $400 for an oil change up to $1000+. The timing belt has to be changed every two years, which can run on average $6,800 dollars. The clutch on many of the f1s have to be changed so often because a lot of the drivers do not drive them properly. You cannot cruise slow in first at a take off, or traffic because it slips the clutch at take off. That is when the main wear takes place. On the paddles it probably cannot be done since the Ferraris are connected to a switch directly where as the mazdas have two different switches on each side. None the less, if you can "afford" the ferrari, you do not worry about the price of maintenance. So which Ferrari did your dad purchase?
So if your Dad really bought a Ferrari with shift paddles why can't you find a picture of it? I call shenanigans!
