Feed Final gear 4,77 - speedmeter
 

Hey guys, i read a lot of posts but i confused. i want to install feed 4.77 and some posts say that the speed sensors need to calibrate and some others that the speed meter shows correct without any modification. Can anyone who install 4.77 answer for sure what happen. Or someone can tell me where speed sensors are located? Thanks and sorry for my poor English:)

i know that in most cars, the speedo is in the trasmission. but the 8 may be different

i would say PM staticlag or mdw 1000. they both have it

it makes no difference . Speed is measured by the wheel sensors so it does not matter what your diff ratio is - so long as your tyre diameter is same as stock it will read correctly .

Brettus is right, the sensors are in the wheels and therefore gear ratios don't matter. speedometer remains correct as long as you are using the same rolling diameter as stock.

Have you done the change of final gear in your car? Any problems during installation?

I have it. Its a very difficult installation, at least a 6-9 hour teardown/rebuild for an experienced mechanic. I wouldn't recommend it for a DIY. Namely because the bearings need to be pressed on the gear in order to work and most people don't have access to a hydraulic press. So you could do it with a piece of pipe and a hammer and a lot of elbow grease but a lot of things could go wrong that would leave you running out to buy new tools or seals.

On a scale of 1-10, changing the gears on a mustang or other American muscle car = 3-4
changing the gears on this car = 10

I made the change and everything is OK. About the old one (4,44) final gear, in which cars fit so i can sell it?

LSD and gears are interchangable for manual trans FD3 RX-7 TT and the RX-8 cars

Is it possible to fit to a miata or honda s2000?

Does the odometer derive inputs the same way?

But yes, the speedo and odometer are based off of wheel speed sensors.
