Faster version of the RX8 in a few years?

So are you guys saying that there will be a faster version of the RX8 in a few years? Maybe around 280hp?

rumor has it that will be the mps rx8. how they increase power is anybody's guess.

if ur looking for a two seater then it will prob be the next rx7. It doesnt really make sense for mazda to make a two seater rx8 and a rx7 which, imo, will cannibalize each other's sales.

well, the 8 is a four seater... if you took those two seats out, you'd basically be making a 7... so, i s'pose you really couldn't make a "2 seater 8", 'cuase that'd be a 7, right?

exactly! :D that would be redundant.

But what do you think about the relationship between the g35, g35c and 350z. rx8, rx8 coupe and rx7 could potentially share the same type of relationship, but imo that would be a bad idea for mazda. Thoughts?

I don't know what mazda's marketing research suggests, but I would take a 2-door RX8 coupe anyday over the current Rx8 (sedan??). I think a lot of the "weird look" of certain angles would be removed and the car would be lighter! :D

I guess it would begin to approach an RX7 (though the hypothetical RX8 coupe would still have rear seats), but then again Nissan did the same thing with the various G35 versions and the 350Z. Hell, for the non-enthusiast who likes a nice, pretty fast car (in a straight line), they can add the altima and maxima to Nissan products to cross-shop.

I can only dream that Mazda would ever have that amount of choices available, but I do think there is some cannibalization of each of those Nissan model's sales by the others.

I don't think Mazda will be wanting to have too many odels out there. I doubt there will be a lot of draw for a 2 door coupe style RX-8 which would be basically the same car with a useless back seat. the usability of the 8's back seat is its greatest feature (well, compared to other cars of comparable price/performance). A coupe would just detract from that benefit. I do, however, see a place in the market for an RX-7 two-door, two-seater, as long as they use a lot of the design characteristics of the 8 (sturdy construction, weight distribution, etc.), but it would have to be considerable lighter than the RX-8 to make the loss of the back seat worth it. As the RX-8 stands now, it is already as light as the 3rd gen RX-7 was, so you kinda get the back seat for free.
