Engine Whistle and the dealer...
Hi, there today for the third time I went to the dealer to get the whistle checked out you can mostly hear at idle after driving it and sometimes at shifting ar slow speeds. I have been to the dealer three time they had ordered the wrong part 3 times, and finally got it today and fixed it. Well thats what I asumed and thats what they said it was gone, well I didnt hear it until i got home and popped the hood, its still there but it sounds different, and quieter. Maybe its normal idk but I am going to call the dealer onemore time for the 5th time. :(

Hmmm...
I have a similar whistle... I think... I'd be very interested to know if anyone identifies the cause, I've not been to the dealer with it yet, but I will do... Mine happens somtimes at idle, but mostly at about 3-4K RPM when the engine is under a small load... perhaps 10% power... you can only hear it with the windows open... Somtimes you get a chirp as you change gear as the engine goes off load... sounds a bit like a turbo dump then... LOL. |

It appears that I have a similar issue when I shift from 1st-2nd and sometimes 2nd-3rd. It's a cross between a whistle and chirp that happens when the clutch is engaging (somewhere between it fully "in" and fully "out") just as BlueAdept described. Going from a FWD piston driven vehicle to a RWD rotary, I am open to new sounds, but this does not sound normal. Any new information or thoughts on this? Thanks for the help! 2006 MT Shinka @ 1000mi |
I have the same issue...I told the dealer about it when I brought the car in for the recall but when they gave it back to me they said they couldn' thear it. Ofcourse, the sound is still there...and I don't have the time to constantly go to my dealer to take care of something that might not even be an issue.
Anybody know what this could be? |
