Engine Overheated and Died

So sadly enough my Rx8 is dead and needs a new engine put into it. So now I am trying to figure what would be the best option to do at this point. Would it be best to buy an engine, rebuild, or try putting in a different engine in the car. Can you guys give any tips or where to buy motors or have them rebuilt?

This being posted many times over was a mistake on my part. Sorry.

If you put another engine besides a renesis be prepared to spend more than $10,000+ to do it right... Get a good rebuild locally if there's any good re builders around you. Or you can do pineapple racing, pettit racing, rotary resurrection to name a few... Cost probably would be anywhere between $2,000-$4,000 depending on how you go with the rebuild itself.

Mazda reman is like $3,000-$4,000 installed maybe? Not sure on the exact numbers, but around there. But for that price and what the quality is on them you're better off with getting a rebuild somewhere else.

Thank you I guess I'll try to find a rebuild in my area. Man I wish my engine didn't go out.

Welp got some bad news the mechanic that has my car states I am better off parting the car off as my best option is to buy a new engine. I'm kinda down about that and I did bring up the idea of buying a used engine online and he warned me that the engine may come with issues and no warranty. This really sucks.

people never keep their car properly, overheated and died, then come up and cry over their own stupidity and start asking captain obvious questions.

is it really that hard to do a search for #@$@#($ sake ?

feel for ya man--sorry to have such a hard lesson happen to ya.
There is no good answer.

The overheat issue wasn't my fault I just bought the car and wasn't aware the engine had any issues the only issue I was aware of was the slipping transmission. Once that got fixed car wouldn't accelerate right once it warmed up. I poured tons of money into repairs but I don't have enough to put a new engine or rebuild the engine.

It is YOUR OWN FAULT that you did NOT do any HOMEWORK before you SIGN the contract.

enuff said.

Mazda reman is like $2,800 installed maybe? Not sure on the exact numbers, but around there. But for that price and what the quality is on them you're better off with getting a rebuild somewhere else.

I was looking at a rebuild and just for giggles I got a quote from my local mazda dealership for a replacement out-of-warranty. $2400 for labor alone, total cost $6,500. LOL oh Mazda<3

LOLLLLLL!!!!!

I charge 1K labor ... and for 6500, you can get an engine that's MUCH better than a hit or miss Mazda "reman" ... lol

that is a lot! labor time should be like 10-14 hours

@nyc yeah lol I've seen all the prices out there. At such an astronomical price they should be manufacturing everything in my engine NEW and ON SITE.

If I were to spend 6500 on an engine replacement I'd be getting an rb25 and attempting to shove it in there. Success chance with my expertise level? Unlikely. But I'd rather take my chances than pay through my nose to Mazda to play the reman lottery.

One guy back in RI that I met by chance said that one of the RI dealers up there initially quoted him $10,000 for the engine and $6,000 for the labor. Only when he threw a fit did they decide to check his warranty status and got him covered...

Yes, dealers will try anything.

RB25? 6500? not a chance.

u can get a reman for around 2-2.5K. you can always just get it, disassemble the engine, rebuild it "properly", install back to the car, at least that's what I will do (when my engine dies)
