Engine Monitor
Can anybody recommend a good software/hardware setup for monitoring the sensors and values in an RX8. I used to have a basic ELM setup on my old ford truck and it helped some to diagnose issues. My RX8 has 142000 and is starting to act its age. I want to see some of the sensor values to figure out what is working and what is not. Nothing to fancy just a way to monitor and perhaps record data coming off all the sensor lines on the CAN bus.

The best option is to buy a bluetooth OBD2 adapter, then pair it to your smartphone and download an OBD2 app. If you have an Android based phone, Torque is by far the best, even the free version is good, but the $5 paid version is well worth it.
Gives you access to all the data feeds, logging, CEL codes, several plugins available, graphing, etc... |
Thanks,
I will look into that route. I have seen the bluetooth ODB devices but was not sure how well they worked. jtdwab |
I use torque and I like it a lot. On the torque website they talk about the different bluetooth OBDII adapters and they give a warning about the cheap Chinese adapters, they say they either work or they don't so make sure who you buy from has a good return policy. I went for the more expensive Kiwi adapter that they recommend. I've had no problems. The only thing I don't like is that it has a 6' cord?!?!
