Engine block Drain plug and Gasket part number?

Damn, Im probably blind but I cant find the part number in the service manual.

Does anybody know ? :) Oh yes I searched :)

I opened it quite a few times already I guess its a good time to replace them ... :)

Thx

Can you find them in here?

http://69.108.208.137/ryang/modify/r...uals/Parts.pdf

I'll look but not absolutely certain what you are after.

nycgps 07-12-2008 09:42 AM

There is a bolt on the side of the engine to drain coolant. right above the engine oil level sensor.

Im blind, I've been starring at the service manual for like an hour I still cant seems to locate the bolt and gasket :(

BMonkey 07-13-2008 01:21 AM

Man, it's not easy tracking down this part number. I did manage to find the bracket that's right next to the engine coolant drain bolt. It's on 6701A Engine & Transmission Wiring Harnesses (page 256) part 18-054. I know it's not the bolt, but it's a lead.

Its just a regular 12mm bolt with an aluminum washer.
I think its M8x1.50.
Just get one at the auto parts store or Ace Hardware (if you can't find your original).

I was thinking of that too (just get generic one).

*sigh* .... Mazda ...

I spent like probably 2 hours to read the service manual, from first page to the last, then back to the first. Still cant find it :(

Its time for Generic stuff ...

Yea, generic it is, I looked for it, the pictures of the center housing you can see the hole for it at the bottom. You should find a titanium one, to save weight and be ridiculously hardcore :)

SEARCH NOOB!

 Couldn't resist!

Sorry................I have no idea where you could find one besides checking the usual places.

TeamRX8 07-14-2008 12:07 PM

neither the bolt nor the crush gasket washer are listed in the parts manual

I suspect that the crush gasket washer is the same as the oil pan drain bolt gasket

if you get a generic bolt it needs to be the right material. I believe the existing bolt is brass, but aluminum or stainless steel will work. A steel bolt may be easier to find, but may have a corrosion issue long term.

nycgps 07-14-2008 12:21 PM

Is just kind of funny that Mazda missed this in their service manual for so many years without knowing it :(

I guess I'll have to find it on my own :)

Thx for stopping by Team :)

Mazurfer 07-14-2008 12:47 PM

Think I would be tempted to use stainless, but not sure.

^.............Good Job!

nycgps 07-14-2008 08:26 PM

AHHH, why havent I thought of that ?

When I was browsing MMS's stock part page, they have some new scan pages on the left side thats much cleaner than the parts.pdf that they have on the site. I always wonder if they added any new parts to it. Ahh huh !

Nice find ! Thanks man ! :)

the part numbers are in the parts catalog, the service info is in the service book, and the loose nut goes behind the wheel

nycgps 07-17-2008 02:34 PM

the service manual that I have on my computer does not have those parts on it.

on MMS(Team's pic) they added that to the picture :)

nycgps 07-21-2008 09:54 PM

Because the part number is missing from the older service manual ?

I thought u know about it ! WOW ! Damn, u're much dumber than I thought !

You failed again , Mr. know it all.

How have I failed? I know the number, and have the part......looks like you are the one who failed. Again.

Then tell me how I failed when Mazda didnt put the part into the manual in the first place ?

oh yes you failed at reading this time.

nycgps 07-22-2008 08:55 AM

Uhh huh.

Dont worry man, I will never post any 13b pp housing like u did. and what happened to the thread again? Epic failed. ROFL !

Outkast187 07-22-2008 03:29 PM

What are you stupid? I showed you how to save a housing, how did that fail? I proved your punkass wrong, so it was a success.

nycgps 07-22-2008 03:47 PM

I picked up a new 2010 RX8 GT engine coolant drain bolt crush washer (gasket) from Mazda and did talk to and check the torque in the rotary repair manual (not listed in our online version). The torque specs are 12-15 ft-lbs. The crush washer part number for reference is 9956-41-000 131
