ECU/PCM for the 192hp. "M" reflash: idem 231hp???

Hello, I am a new member from France.
I have seen on this forum that you speak about "L" and "M" reflash since a few month; in France, we have the RX8 since November, but nobody has heard about this, even Mazda France.
I wanted to know if the reflash is concerning also the 192hp and what is the revision for this model??
Can you help me, please???

The reflash was just for U.S. spec cars. Mazda had to re-tune the ECU at the last moment to satisfy new, Draconian requirements of our Environmental Protection Agency, and they did a really poor job of it. All of the reflashes since the car came out have been Mazda's way of undoing what they did, in small increments. They've also been to help increase fuel mileage, and reduce the possibility of flooding the car - all things that were apparently effected by the last minute ECU tuning.

I don't recall that anyone has dyno'd the car with K versus L versus M flashes, but I'm sure the HP gain is not taking it from 192 to 231.

Hope this helps.

I don't understand very well: do you say that UK cars are not concerned by the reflashes, because I know it is already the case for germany and Belgium, for example???

As far as I know, the reflashes are just for U.S. spec cars. The rest of the world didn't have the bad ECU tuning.

I can confirm there are PCM updates available in Europe too both for the high and std power. I'm booked for one this Wednesday for my Std Power 5MT.
The PCM updates are most probably different for the 2 versions, but should contain the same improvements. I'll post more details on this forum when I've got it done. Unfortunately, so far I haven't been able to find a CAN EOBD tool to get some data before the update.
