Do you rev before turning off?

So I've been reading different opinions about revving the engine to 4-5k before turning the car off.. Would this prevent flooding, or increase the odds of flooding??
Ive been doing it for over a year without a problem.. What do you guys think?

I only do that when moving a cold RX-8 a short distance.

How high?

4K should be the max you should rev a cold renesis.. Doesn't get proper lubrication until the engine is warm.

I never rev my engine before shutting it off, only exception is when I've got to shut it down and start it up more than once in a short period of time.

4K should be enough in any case.

Yes, religiously. Rev to 3k rpm and hold for 10 seconds, quickly turning off the key just as I take my foot off the accelerator so it continues to purge fuel as it spools down.

But as expo1, only when it's not fully warmed up, which is rare.

Again, you have to hold it at 3k for 10 seconds or so, not just "blip it", wtf that means. The point is to allow time for the excess fuel to purge. Our engines run ultra rich when cold and thus the need.

The middle of what??? You rev to ~3k rpm and hold it there for ~10 seconds. Take you foot off the gas and quickly shut off the ignition as the engine is winding down (unless you have Superman speed it will be somewhat less than 10k as you shut it down).

The reason you rev is so that even though the engine is still cold to purge fuel from the system.

So yes the needle is not in the middle, rev, then shut off.

I've been told that flooring it as you switch the ignition off helps also.

Well after the ignition is off so you aren't revving the engine

I can't imagine what the point of flooring it is after you turn off the ignition. Granted it cuts off the fuel, but that's like closing the gate after the horse has fled.

I actually by-hand roll my car out of the garage to wash it, then fully warm it up while drying before backing it in again.

Yup i meant the temp needle. So rev 3k for 10 seconds > shut off as you remove foot from gas > and shut off even though the needle is not in the middle.

I know the needle is not in the middle at first. But what im asking is ... atfer your rev 3k for 10 sec it wont make the needle go to the middle... do you still shut it off though ? Sorry i know im being a pain in the ***.
