Do exhaust sound change in time?
 

I have a just gotten a used 2 year old titanium r magic exos. The onwer have the same straight thru setup as me the only difference is that my ecu is reflash by knight sports. apparently when the exos is installed in my car, the note is very different and is louder and have sharper note, not so bassy compare to the seller. May I know do exos changes it exos note thru time? Or is some where is not sealed properly or leaking?

exhaust leaks can cause it. depending on the baffling, you might also have the mufflers/silencers degrade over time as the stainless steel packing material is burned out.

When my new cat back exhaust was installed, it seemed louder than it is now.

The change in tone is due to the tune.

I agree that the change in tone is because of the reflash.

A two year old high quality exhaust will not have burned out its fill and should still be in great shape.

thanks for all the replies. Anyway I think I will still go check out whether is there a leak at a local garage. I also believe the reflash make some different but still feel a little disappointed on the exos note not really what I have expected. If the sound cannot be rectify may put back my cat and stock silencer as it is too loud now an attracting a lot of unwanted attention.

yeah 2 yrs will not make the exhaust get thatmuch louder unless there is like a leak or someting...

just came back from the garage, suspect is the custom mid pipe that maybe the cause. Planning to put back stock cat and silencer to see is there a difference. Mechcanic also found that there is lots of back fire like somewhere is choke so need to replace back to stock cat and see is there a difference

A resonated midpipe might be a better direction for you. It'll reduce the volume very little but the higher tones will be surpressed.

Oh and a set up with a straight pipe will definitely set off the exhaust gases (as you call them backfires) causing flames to shoot out your tailpipes. It's kinda cool.
