Void Warranty ? bcuz of the Aftermarket Intake and I d/c the Vaccum line?

Its going to be a long post so if u cant stand it, dont read it :P

Ok, Well, I got this CEL of P0662 for quite a while, it keeps going on and off and on and off.

This CEL means that theres something *wrong* with the Intake Solenoid, and it only happens around 6~7K RPM. Thats probably the reason why its going on and off all the time (cuz I dont drive at 6~7kRPM all the time)

So today, I went to the dealership. (Finally, yes Im lazy), told them about the CEL and a bunch of other TSB related issues.

Then the Tech saw the Intake with the Vaccum disconnected(Its the K&N Version II), and said that he will have to take a picture, and send it to Mazda to see what they say, but he said most likely this WILL void the car's warranty. Plus because of that they put a hold on the rest of the TSB fixes (including Airbag, SunRoof, etc) Until they get an answer from Mazda, the ordered the Solenoid anyway tho.

Here is what the Invoice said :

"TECH FOUND CODE P0662 INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE FAILURE, CUSTOMER HAS AFTERMARKET INTAKE AIR HOUSING SYSTEM ALSO HAS VACUUM LINE DISCONNECTED AND SOLENOID"

Im on this forum long enough to know this is just complete BS, they should not be able to void my warranty like that.

but now Im just wondering should I just wait until Mazda has an answer first? or should I just call right now before hand to talk about the issue.

Thank you for reading.

THAT BLOWS

they can void your warranty if the aftermarket part is the reason for the problem, which in your case is.

they were right, that eill do it.

but they cant void your whole warranty just what the intake did.

Just keep after them...they can't void your warranty for an intake...and they know it.

Just get a bigger stick........

The solenoid that you have disconnected is for the VFAD duct...and has no real importance in the functioning of the intake tract. It is to reduce the noise at lower RPM's...

Yes, it is to reduce noise at certain rpm's. However, having the solenoid unplugged is what tripped the CEL. Just plug it back in and make sure your vacuum line is connected, too.

I dont see why they put the rest of the issues on the back burner. The intake doesnt effect the sunroof, nor does it effect the air bag. Id have them fixing the other problems while they wait on the news from the intake.

Let me go take a picture of my hood I be right back.

There you go.

I sealed the tube to the Intale Mainfold with Tape (cuz Im afraid that I might break the little tab on the intake mainfold, so I just seal the tube nicely with tape)

and I unplug the power to it (cuz its no use)

Like I said, I got this CEL even before I took it out.

The tech just keep on saying *Aftermarket stuff will break your car* over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over .....

I was about to go all out and like *Yo just stfu*

now what u guys think ?

I can understand them voiding the warranty on intake related items like the solenoid, since you are no longer using the Mazda air filter, which can wear parts in differant ways. What if you got dirt in the solenoid that wouldn't have gotten in there from a stock airbox?

However, the other things are asinine.

I seriously doubt thats the cause, there are people with broken SSV and they're stock.

The car drives fine and stuff, its just the CEL annoys me.

but seriously, if they giving me crap about this. Im going to start something. Cuz even Mazdaspeed parts will disconnect all of the stuff that I've unplugged.

Im not trying to be a dick here(well maybe Im ...) Cuz I really dont think thats the cause, you know what I mean ?

oh one more thing.

I know the *Void the whole car's warranty* is super bs, but if they are going to void will they void *just the intake mainfold* or the *whole powertrain* ?

Im going to put my RB wires and new plugs in maybe next monday. Next thing I'll get is that my whole Engine warranty will be voided because of my RB wires.

Mazda, you're about to lose a life time customer.

what a load of crap! I've got an RB intake and my dealership has NEVER given me problems about it.

Keep fighting it. Be respectful and informative when you tell the Service Manager that plugging that line isn't harming the intake. If you don't like what he has to say....go up the ladder.

Having the VFAD solenoid unplugged will NOT cause a CEL. Mine has been unplugged for 30K now.

call them back tomorrow to get an update. If you stay on top of this, they're less likely tho think you'll just "rollover" when they try and void your warranty.

#662 deals with a few different things, actually. One is the SSV solenoid valve, the second is the connector or terminal malfunction, another is a short to power supply in the wiring harness, and the last is a PCM malfunction. One issue I am having in looking at the photo is what appears to be the wiring harness having been "trifled" with. That may be what the service tech is seeing, as well. One thing to do, nycgps, is to put a screw or bolt in the vacuum hose as tape will not seal the vacuum leak that results.

Alright, I will try to find a screw or bolt and stick it up to the hole.

but for now its up to Mazda, I think the Tech wrote another *letter* to Mazda, along with the picture that he took, not sure what the letter wrote, I cant read his hand writing.(for a second I thought he wrote that letter in Arabic or something)

They put an order on the Solenoid anyway, let me see the part number ...

F151-73-7711 (Description saids Valve Solenoid)
FE62-16-510C
N326-11-003
F183-44-010

I dont think theres a leak anywhere, this is actually the first time the tech there *saw* that someone disconnect all the connectors like me.

Another note, when he first asked me to go with him(to the car and told me that he needs to take a picture), he said something like "Your aftermarket intake is the cause of the CEL(BS), the CEL saids its revving too high(????WTF????)" Then I said "Well I read the service manual and I do not think this is the cause"

then him and another tech just kept repeat this *If you have aftermarket parts Mazda will void your warranty* over and over and over and over like they are robots or something.

Well, I know its part of their job but, arent they suppose to at least fix my other issues ? What does weather stripe, airbag and sunroof has anything to do with the engine ?

If they dont cover this, I swear I will never get another Mazda ever again.

I starting to know how you feel now ...

There are people who had this problem without any aftermarket stuff.

I just dont like the fact that they love to blame aftermarket stuff for their own mechanical failures. Sure K&N might have been the cause, but I just want hard proof. not just something that came out of the tech's mouth or *cuz Mazda said so*

If I install something ridiculous like a turbo then yeah sure its my fault. but am I ?

no matter what, they shouldn't put a hold on the rest of you tsb's. the intake has nothing to do with a sunroof rattling. they are jacking you around. And they will probably continue to jack you around.

I have a feeling that they just dont have any of the parts that I need and want me to get the hell out.

I need

Airbag rattle
Sunroof (they said its NORMAL to have rattles, wtf)
Driver Side Weatherstrip (the rubber seal)
Clutch Noise (the Clutch cut switch)

I already forgot to mention some other stuff. But next time I will make sure I *remember them all*, just to get them to work on it.

nycgps..

Honestly, if they mess around with you, go to another dealership.. Has to be one closer. I have had bad dealings like that, went to a knew one, started fresh, explained what the other dealership did/said.. Normally they are happy you came to them & therefore might try to help you out.

My 2 cents..
