had an unexpected day off work and got my car done a day early. New coils, wires, plugs from mazmart. Cleaned maf sensor. was very dirty. cleaned the ess. have no idea when it was cleaned last but it was filthy.

put it all back together. started right up. let it idle til it got up to operating temp then took it out for a drive. no spurts or sputters. idled very smoothly compared to what it was before. pulled hard through all rmps. so fingers crossed its good for a while

took about 2 hours to get all done. hardest part is big hands in little spaces.

here are pics of plugs and ess

Does the car vibrate when it idles?
How did you clean the ESS?
I'm thinking about doing the same to my RX8.

If the rpms dipped to like 750 or around that it would vibrate a little but nothing crazy

I located the ess from under the car. Undid 10mm bolt and unplugged. Wiped it off then sprayed with mad cleaner. Reinstalled. Hardest part is figuring out how to get to it. I had the driver front wheel off

Vibration at idle could also be due to failing motor mounts. How many miles does your car have?

You can simply wipe off the ess with a cloth. No need to take it off the car. Here is some more info on its location:

Yea you can wipe it off without removal. It was my preference for me to take it off and clean with maf cleaner, but not necessary

Oh the same happens to me. From what I gather, the car will have a slight vibration even if it's at 900rpm right? I've been trying to find ways to get rid of the vibration during idle. I have changed my mounts a few months ago and barely even did 3000 miles with it.

I got the car used so I have no idea what a new engine should feel like.
