cruise control retro fit

Hi all,

I'm getting a an RX8 from Japan and wanted to retro fit cruise control. Anyone have any ideas re possible suppliers?

Cruise standard

Isn't it

I've got the U.S. Base Manual, and it has cruise. What are you driving, Red Lizard? Or, perhaps more importantly, what country are you driving it in?

There was a dupe post in Audio / Electronics. It's now merged as the second post in this thread, if anyone is confused with mine and Frank Patrick's replies.

Europe......

Euro spec cars don't have cruise, some of them are working on it.

Last I heard, a German guy was putting kits together, buttons etc.

I remember looking into this for Zoom44 a while back...

It may be a tough retro fit as the PCM controls the speed via the TB.

If you try to change the PCM without using the WDS (or equivalent)to inhale the old data the PCM will be blank..

Wrong. Retro fit is really easy. All PCMs (including on the European models - where cruise was not available) are actually Cruise Control enabled. Install the buttons, connect to groung and PCM and it works. There are quite a few cars running with retro-fitted Cruise control now aroud here. I got my buttons today through a group buy on the Dutch forum.

Nice!!

With no as built data from a Euro car I didn't expect them to have it already programmed in.

What was the cost for the kit?

Me neither initially. But it actually makes sense. Most strategy software do include all strategy modules that are enabled or disabled in the calibration (mapping).

We bought the button set from Japanparts in Japan, and obtained the connector contacts from the dealer. It came eventually out at 160 Eur per person.
