cracked the shit out of my radiator!!

so i hit a curb and cranked the bottom plastic my radiator. I also had to get an alignment. i ended up jbwelding the shit out radiator and just added some silicone over that cause it was still dripping. i wanna buy a bigger aluminum radiator. my question is. will i need difffrent thermo-stat for a bigger radiator to work properly or can i just keep the one i have now.?

thanks in advance

You can keep the one you have now, or Just buy a new one if you don't trust the longevity of the current used one in there.

Just replace it with a used radiator off ebay. the factory one outperforms 70% of the afermarket radiators out there.

thought about getting a oem used one but all the rx8 in my area are wrecked from the front. do you know of any oem replicas that will do a good job? brand?

if cost is ur concern, just buy some knock offs from places like fleabay and ur local az/aap/or/etc

rockauto sells a replacement too.

I will NEVER buy an used radiator.

but don't expect it to cool ur car. fitment might be an issue too.

so either take the hit and get a OEM replacement, or get some better than OEM replacement

oh, when u reinstall, make sure u seal the sides up with foam very well.

my local auto parts store wants $200. i can get a godspeed one for $20 less. ebay has regular replicas for under $100.

Where are you located?

I have an OEM one with fans in great shape. 29K on it.

If you want OEM, Mazmart can get you one for less than $200, I think less than $200 even with shipping involved.

The radiator sheds heat that it gets, the thermostat determines how much coolant the radiator is getting. If you have a 185F thermostat and the coolant is holding steady at 180F then the radiator won't be shedding any heat. If the coolant is holding steady at 200F, then you have reached a balance where the radiator can't shed any more heat down to the thermostat temp, but is keeping the system from getting hotter. If your coolant is holding steady at 185F, then upgrading the radiator won't drop it any farther. If your coolant temps keep climbing, a thermostat change won't affect anything.
