Coils, Plugs + Leads
Hi all.
I was on a trip down other end of country couple months back when my car developed a misfire. To cut a long story short I rung the AA and they came out and diagnosed that I had a defective coil, and then asked me to drive the car to the nearest garage which was about 20 miles away. I am not a mechanic so followed the technicians advice. After driving about a mile and nearly killing myself on the motorway, my car started to go up in smoke both on the inside and through the bonnet. I have all the evidence I need and am in the process of taking them to court etc. but I am worried about any furher damage that could have been done to my car. I have been told by my local dealer that there is probable damage to the catalytic converter, but I am trying to find out if it is possible that any other damage could have been done as I am going to need to pass on all costs to the county courts. Any information would be helpful. Thanks |
It caught on fire? It sounds like the person made a legit attempt to help your situation. Coils can cause that.
What damage happend? The only fires I have heard of are from the fuel rail connector tube. If it's not put on right or it's damaged it leaks then poof. I don't think coils would catch fire prob would trip a fuse if something shorted. He should of told you to call a tow but I don't know if his diagnosis was wrong. Is this the Original engine?? |
