Coil grounding
Hi,I’ve searched and searched but I’ve been unable to find any suggestions on where to ground the stock coils.I have a 2007 MT RX8 with 3000 miles on a reman motor.Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks |
Based on the wiring diagram (page 10, http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/RX...Electrical.pdf) the OEM coils are grounded through the wire harness. The mounting boss on the coils is not connected to coil ground.
If you want to run a new ground for the coils, you'll have to modify the wiring harness or create an adapter. If you do this, you can combine the ground wires into a ring terminal and mount it to the unused threaded hole above the spark plugs on the front housing (the same hole on the rear housing should hold the knock sensor). |
Coil grounding
Thanks for the responses.I think when the weather warms up I’ll get a Bennet coil set up that has a grounding wire with it.A side note-I sanded all the grounding sites I could find and applied a grounding set from Flex Innovations in black. There is a noticeable difference in idle, startups and general drive ability. No idle dips with air conditioning cycling.2007 RX8 MT. |
