FL Is it a clutch problem or a sensor problem??

pretend as in your going down the road at 45mph and you move from being in gear to neutral.. my engine is revving because i was pushing on the gas but the car wont go other than with the momentum it already had i looked down and i was still on gear but its acting like its not.... when the car came to a complete stop i put it on gear but it wont seen to stall either even if i let go the clutch pedal, the car was always on it never die on me during all of this but it did gave out a smell like burn toast...

is it a clutch problem or a sensor problem???

we think we might need a whole new clutch kit but were hopping we don't need a whole new flywheel? any advice???
