Cloth Seat Adjustment
I Bought my RX8 with the Sport package because I am 6' 3" and didn't like the head room I had with the sunroof. The cloth seats are great because you can adjust the height of the seat up and down, but I noticed that the front of the seat didn't hit the back of my legs. This is ok driving around town but when you hit the interstate about an hour in you find you need the support. I decided to look under the front seats and I noticed that they are bolted on by two bolts in the front. I went to the hardware store and bought a couple of packages of washers that would fit the bots. I added about 10 washers to each of the front bolts and that made the seat bottoms tilt up in the front. My wife is only 5' 8" and she noticed that this is alot more comfortable for her too. Just thought I would pass this on. :)

Moderators, maybe this would make a good DIY?

Does the Sport have cruise control? I can't say I've noticed this (then again, I'm 6ft), but with the cruise on during highway driving I sit bow-legged with my thighs on the seat side bolsters. Good fix, though.

I did this mod today
I had been trying to come up with a way to raise the front of the seat for the same reasons mentioned above. My last vehicle had a tilt adjustment and I always kept it tilted back. I was looking at the 2 horizontal bolts on the front outside without much luck and never really checked under the seat. This mod only took about 10 minutes max to perform. Thanks for sharing this info!
I replaced the bolts with some longer ones in order to get full thread engagement and used (8) washers per bolt. This raised the front of the seat about 1/2" - 5/8". The parts required are as follows: (2) Bolts, M8 - 1.25 (Standard Thread Pitch) (16) M8 Washers, (8 per side) Total cost: $2.00; Having seat tilted back: Priceless... :p |
If someone writes a good DIY w/ photos or nice descriptions, I wouldn't be averse to putting it in DIY Forums. Sounds like a nice mod to me.

I am adding a picture of the passenger seat, I didn't add as many washers to this side because most people that ride with me are shorter. The only thing is when you replace the bolts, they are harder to get started than the tapered end bolts that are there from the factory
