Cleaning the differential.

Hello wasn't sure where to put this but.....I was looking for any suggestions from the differential gods on cleaning the differential.I usually clean mine using brake cleaner after i remove the diff housing and then blow it our using my air compressor then wiping the residue if any with clean lint free rags. Always looking to learn a new trick. If you have any other ways to clean the diff, please leave your tip here:). Thank you.

Why would you clean the inside of your diff?

It really is totally unnecessary to 'clean' the inside of your differential (or manual transmission), both have/use a magnetic drain plug which captured any fine particles of metal from 'normal' crown wheel and pinion and bearing W&T....

All you should do is drain old oil when differential is at normal operating temperature, clean off the drain plug magnet, an then refill with the correct and fresh Gear Oil.

Naturally IF you have removed or are re-conditioning your Diff then all the internal parts can be cleaned off like any other mechanical/oil part.

That is it...no magic, no guru's needed. :)

Why not clean it out if the diff cover is off?....... The guru remark was about how much gear oil is in the diff.....1.5 approx. Beside there are no guru's here , they are in India lol.
