okay you guys i dont own a rx8 yet but the gas cap thing is common in many cars i owned a solara a while back and when i didnt tighten it all the way the light would come on...it also use to do the same thing with my ford expedition....to be honest dont get scared if the light comes on you got a warrenty thats what its there for

 

I just got my car back . . . they said it was the thermostat sticking. It was replaced and coolant was added. They got me a Dodge Neon from Enterprise as my loaner car. It took two days. I also had a headlamp lens replaced under PDI warranty.

Run great! I think the A/C is better too, if that makes any sense.

 

Hey guys. I have an 06 Mazda RX-8. My cel used to come on and flash when i was in high RPMS then a few min later it would go out. After this i stopped reving my engine very high to avoid messing up my engine. After about 3 months of driving with no cel my enging started idling rough and you could see the RPM gauge fluctuating. Also i noticed a rich gas smell when i cold started it. It had these symptoms but no cel, This morning i got in my car and when i was driving my CEL came on and was flashing for about 30 sec then stopped flashing and has remained on ever since. I took it to a shop and they ran a diagnostics check and said it was an M1 misfire. They said i was getting good signals from the spark plugs but i had a bad ignition coil. Does anyone have any helpful input on my situation??? thanks.

 

i have an 04 rx8 that got the engine on it recalled and i have had the engine for about three months and the check engine light has come on twice. it came on like a month ago because of one of my coils. and it turned back on today and i am taking it to get checked tomorrow. what would the problem be because i dont want to spend another 300 dollars on a new coil

 

hi does any one know were i can get a warning light diagram as i have a few warning lights showing on my car please help it would be much appreciated

 

You mean a diagram that shows what all the lights on the instrument cluster mean? That's in the owner's manual If you're in the US, sign up in the owner's section of mazdausa.com. You can then download a pdf of the manual and the quick tips guide. If you don't want to register, there are direct links to the manuals. Don't remember what they are, but you should be able to find them by searching this site.

Hey I'm having the same problem in my rx8. I put my gas cap back on and was wondering what do you mean by 10 cycles? Does this mean turning the engine on 10 times or do you just turn the key so all the lights go on 10 times? Any help would be great, thanks.

 

Jus got the same issue a few hrs ago, after regas the aircon.. Air-conditioning is working 100% but the light is now on?????

 

You are having what issue? The CEL came on and has stayed on or is flashing?

A flashing CEL is always a misfire. There is a sticky on that. If it is staying on, you need to have the code(s) read. Just about any auto parts store can do this for you. Write the code(s) down and post them here. Better yet, search this site for the code(s), and you will more than likely find the solution(s).

 

The CEL is on and stays on.. It doesn't flash or anything, and hasn't affected anything.. It started wen I refilled the aircon...
Not sure where to have the codes read or if theres a procedure to do it, unless I take it to the dealers..

 

Take it to auto zone. They'll read it for free.

Otherwise, any mechanic can look, but it'll cost you. Call around for best local deals.
