change speedo???

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to change the speedo from mph to kmph without taking it to a dealership? I just bought a 2004 rx8 from seattle but i live in canada and for inspection it needs to be changed

Hold the little button/pin that is on the left side of the gauge cluster in for a few seconds, should change speedo and odometer.

Push the button to the left of the tach. Hold it for a couple of seconds.

Kind of fun to play with to mess with back seat drivers. If you're in mph territory, switch to kph to freak them. If you're in kph territory, switch to mph so they won't realize how fast you're going.

Sign up in the "owner" section of the MazdaUSA web site. You can the download a PDF version of the manual.

Or look for a recent thread on octane requirements - there's a post with links to all the owner's manuals.

The owner's manual is a good tool but doesn't hold all the answers, it tell you how to drain the oil but to change the filter take to stealership. and in my manual not sure if yours say it but it's says the curb weight of the 8 is 3780! For a while I was really tripped out, but did some searching and found the real weight.

Long story short, the manuals don't hold all the answers.

3780 may prolly be the G.V.W.R, which i believe factors in a fully occupied car( or maybe the recommended max load) and gives the total weight safe for that car. i believe in the brochure it states the "popular" pkg (meaning everything) for that car for MT and AT is close to 3,050 numbers. so whatever pkg you have, minus the equipment you don't have from a fully loaded GT pkg, then you have the static weight of ur car.

No book holds all the answers, and may even be wrong in some cases(not the one you point out).......but at least it probably covers a major portion. Of course you have to take anything with a grain of salt, much like the internez. Funny about the oil filter though...........oh, we need a special tool, must go to dealer....right! :banghead:
