https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ighlight=p0456 http://www.finishlineperformance.com...26-07-1800.pdf Took me all of 30 seconds! You CANNOT see anything by looking at the cap, you need a known good one to test it. It appears to be a VERY cheap part in the US. Go and grab one (or if you know someone with an 8 do a swap). I have the P0456 code on too. It came on a few months back, right after I put in a new battery. It went away for maybe 2 weeks, and is back now. I bought a new gas cap, a standard one for the car from autozone. The guy said usually lights clear after 30 miles... mine hasn't. I also read something about 3 starts/stops to clear the mazda light. Anyone have any clues on how to clear the light, and if I need the actual mazda gas cap or if the generic one from autozone is ok?
I'm also wondering if it has something to do with putting in a new battery. In my looking (I forget where I found it now), I saw something about the vacuum line sensors and the battery. |
Can this code be anyway related to the cat? I recently installed a AP midpipe and a few days later got a CEL. I suspected it was the typical cat code but i got p0456 instead and cleared it. It came back today. Should I just get a new gas cap. Or is the midpipe causing this cel.

Mazda part number is FE02-42-250B, list is $25ish |
